Depends on what tooth she broke and how she broke it.

Did the filling fracture or did the tooth fracture?

Absent of pain doesn't mean absent of a root canal therapy.

I'm a little surprised with all the money you're making and you not being able to afford dental insurance for your g.f.? Doesn't make sense since you go out all the time?????

Who in the hell pays insurance for their gf/Friend. You would be one big dummy to do that. I don't care if I was a millionaire.

Hop on craigslist and find a dentist looking to trade for something. I had a root canal done a few weeks ago by trading a dentist skybox tickets for a Utah Jazz game. The tickets were $75.00 each and the skybox was directly behind the backboard (dentist was cool with it though). I've found shitloads of dentists looking to do tradework or bartering for goods on craigslist and other local sites.

My dentist gave me a student discount for 100 dollars. But that was for the cheapest silver/mercury amalgam filling.

900 dollars seems way too much, that would be like a gold inlay.

This thread is awesome.

Craigslist dentist? Eye surgery for $300?

I'll do you one better. Bring your girl over to my garage, I'll take care of her. She needs a filling? I got a power drill, a chisel and some caulk. It'll run you about $10 and a six pack of Natty. I also do open heart surgery. You gotta bring your own paper towels, though.

Generally speaking

Silver mercury filling = 120 to 200 dollars and lasts 7 years
White resin = around 240 lasts 5 years
Gold Inlay = probably 600 or more, lasts more than 10 years.

You need to step out into the real world and realize that people barter **** all the time.

I did a wheel bearing on a guy's Subaru in trade for a rifle. Sure, he could've just come down to my shop, had me charge him, then I could've used the money to buy his rifle, but that would've never happened. He posted an ad for a trade and I went for it.

I traded NBA tickets for a root canal. Sure, I could've gone into his office and paid an insane amount of money to him to do the root canal. In turn, he could've used like 5% of the money I paid him to get the same skybox tickets I traded him for, but that would've never happened. I posted an ad for a trade and he went for it.

I changed a head gasket on some dude's car in exchange for him replacing my roof. Sure, I could've called the company he worked for and paid 5-10x the value I exchanged him for and he could've come down to my shop and paid me for the work I did, but instead, we both ended up saving boat loads of money by doing the exchange. This trade wasn't through craigslist though.

You can knock this whole bartering thing all you want, but licensed professionals do tradework all the time whether you'll accept that fact or not.

I made a decent living but I would like to retire. One way of doing that is spending and saving wisely.

To close out this thread, she needed a root canal and crown and it set me back $1,800.
