Default Anyone get an underage drinking ticket? PA specifically.

Well..a few weeks ago I went to a Phillies game and decided to do a little tailgating beforehand. Well that didn't get very far, because as soon as we got there some undercover cops busted us for underage drinking. (few among a hundred busted, the cops told us) My two friends lied their way out of the ticket somehow, but me and a few of the girls we were with got tickets. My court date is comming up next week, and I was just wondering if any of you have gotten one before (especially if in pennsylvania) and how much the ticket was/any community service/license suspension. I've heard anywhere from $300-1100 in charges, license suspended for 3 months, and 24 hours of community service. Just trying to see what im in for. Also, if my license is suspended in PA, will they try and transfer that over to NJ where I live, or would I just not be able to drive in PA.

Those 2 sips of beer were really worth it. on me.

yeah. they are cracking down at the phillies game. i assume you got busted drinking in the parking lot? how did the undercover cops confront you guys? i think it will transfer back and your license will be suspended for 90 days. not having a license = you can't drive in any state. my friend got busted couple weeks ago too. worst time to lose your license.

Did your friend go to court yet?
Yea it was in the parking lot, amongst the hundreds of people tailgating.
The cops pretty much just came up to us and said "ok everyones busted". haha

I did when I was in college. I went to IUP in Indiana, PA. I was stumbling back to the dorms and got a nice escort back home with a summons to court

I had to pay a $227 dollar fine (including court fees, all $112 worth).......like I could afford that when I was in college.

I still to this day do not understand how I was charged for underage drinking when they did not in fact catch me with alcohol. I was not asked to do a sobriety test or anything. PA cops/courts suck monkey nuts.

Yea, he said he didn't actually catch me drinking it, but he saw me holding it. And on the ticket he put consuming. I had it in a different cup and all. Oh well..I was just curious to see the charges. That makes me glad that yours wasn't too much.

Honestly I dont get the point of underage drinking out in public. Atleast be smart about it and do it in a house or something.

With that said yeah you'll most likely lose your liscence. When My Friends and I got them they got something else instead of underages so they didn't lose there license or anything. I forget what they got but it stayed on there record longer than getting an underage would have.

I actually got out of mine...somehow I managed to blow zeros. I think it was because the house got busted and I just finished playing my first game of beerpong and the alcohol didnt get into my blood steam yet. So I blew zeros they gave me one anyway and I went to court and got out of it.

Goodluck

No you will not lose your license in NJ for this. Your priveliges of driving in PA will be suspended fr 90 days. You will pay in the neighborhood of 300-400 dollars. No community service. This is all if it is your first offense. Speaking from experience.

I just got done with underage drinking classes. They offer it in some counties, but since you are from phillie and your hockey team sucks I doubt they offer it.

I got one a few years back at a DMB concert in Pittsburgh. You'll get a fine...think mine was somewhere around $300-$500 and also a liscence suspension for 90 days.

If you have a job or need transportation to school you can get a special liscense that allows you to drive to work or classes. I forget what its called off the top of my head, but I got one. It was only like another $60 to apply for.

PA is going to screw you. But then again, underage drinking in public is pretty damn stupid and avoidable...so you do deserve it.

I got a DUI last october. License suspended for 1 year and I am on diversion for one year. It really isn't that bad aside from not having a damn license. I had like $750 in fines. Dumbest mistake I could ever make in my life. Your situation seems a lot less serious than mine too.

Most likely just a fine. Just make sure you pay/show up to court.

Swifty they have been cracking down on this for years; it's not very smart to tailgate at anything in Philly. I remember friends of mine getting citations for drinking at concerts, no one lost their licenses, just court dates and fines. A couple girls got tickets just for being with people drinking, they had nothing in their hands, they didn't even drink a drop of beer.

I come from a family of Philadelphia police officers, most of them are detectives or retired now though so I don't know if they are familiar with the consequences of your offense. I will try to ask then let you know.

No idea. I don't know if you have met me or where you would have. Where are you from in Jersey?

I would be formal in court. I have never been, thank God, just traffic court, but I would look nice.

Usually if you hire a lawyer they just meet with the prosecutor and work out a "deal". You never really have to go into court just meet with your lawyer at the court house. Formal is always best though.
