Default Water/meth injection... what's your kit?

Wondering what you guys are using for water/meth injection (those that ARE using it, or have experience with it) and how the kits have worked out for you, where you got 'em, how much they go for...

TIA

I have the AEM 30-3000 kit. I'm gonna be tuning on it early next week for the first time. I must say that the installation was easy, good instructions, and everything seems to be high quality

I paid 375USD for it.

bought it form a seller on honda-tech (forget who)

Can't wait to start using it!

I'm actually very impressed with that AEM kit... I didn't know they made one

How does the AEM's Boost Safe system work as compared with the Snow Performance's SafeInjection system that measures flow?

Hrmmmm. . . Well, I just got a Coolingmist kit with the 250psi pump and the CMGS controller. It looks SWEEEEET. Unfortunately, I don't have it installed yet. I think I'll probably be getting the flow meter for it as well, so I can see for sure that the water is pumping.

When I've run it, I'll try to get back here and report on it.

What is everyone running for fluid? I'm thinking there has to be a nice standard windshield washer fluid in a -25 or -35F.

How much is the coolingmist kit? That's a higher psi than the AEM kit... does anyone have a nozzle comparison? I would assume a higher psi to the nozzle would mean a better spray pattern?

Thanks for the input

See that's awesome... how did you do the failsafe? Hobbs switch on the post-pump line, flowmeter, or a float on the reservoir?

Bump for more input

I swear, water/meth injection is like nitrous... whoever uses it is embarrassed to admit it, LOL.

I used an adjustible pressure switch on the pressure side of the pump and installed a methanol filter before the pump, the switch is wired to ground and goes into an input into hondata..

In hondata im using secondary tables, that are activated via pressure switch. In the normal tables i have it tuned to maximum safe pump gas, no meth, boost levels (18psi) and after 18psi the normal tables are zero'd so it falls flat on it face if it goes past 18psi and hasnt seen pressure from the switch.. i have the secondary tables tuned to 30psi

Bang for the buck, I think the Devil's Own kit is great.

Nearly all the hardware is the same...the controlers, sitckers, and add on gadgets are what make any of these kits any different. I have a new pump that is setup for 200psi that I scored for free (needed a $12 part), some instant fittings & lines from mcmaster, some aeroquip AN lines left over from some fuel system, a nozzle from cooling mist, a bosch 30A relay, and a tank that I made from an old minikeg. For now it will just be actuated by a hobbes switch but I plan on using eCtune to make it safer when I'm not feeling so lazy.

With as much power as people on here squeeze out of these little motors, I'm kind of surprised that more people don't seem to run water/methanol injection. The science is pretty sound.

Very interesting, thanks for the link I'm surprised it's not cheaper to tell the truth!

Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of an on/off switch like the DIY kit posted vs a progressive kit that will add more meth/water injection as boost increases?

I could comment on it, but here is the ultimate comment:

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/water-me...n-systems.html

And here is the old NACA study that showed how much potential was available from W/I and how best to get it:

Here's an interesting writeup on W/I applied to a rotary:

And here's a link to a page where a guy has put up a whole bunch of the NACA reports:

http://not2fast.com/NACA/

Be sure to check out #531 (and a bunch of the other ones).

And one last bit of crazy chemistry to add to the discussion:

I run aem kit on my dsm with large nozzle.. Aem controls it and if I have level drop switches maps for safety.. Been 2 seasons never an issue. I use straight meth, aka methlhydrate from auto supply store, it's cheap too. Works great for supressing knock and my iat always very close to ambient .. Even after repeated pulls

Methylhydrate huh? Is that just a fancy way to say methanol mixed with water?

Did anyone take a read of those links?

It seems that if atomization is really good, there is no big problem spraying through the turbo compressor. It has actually been shown that it can move the map a little to the right if the turbo is on the small side. If it isn't, the usefulness of a spray-through setup is much less.

I'm a little sketchy on the idea of spraying water through a turbine, maybe that's just me... I don't see much point in coating the inside of the intercooler with water/methanol, which is where I believe most of it would condense (for those of us running intercoolers, that is).

I did read through the links, thanks for posting that I've actually read through most of 'em before though... always good to have a great set of resources in a thread, however
