Default VAFC Hack guys... CEL 43 at partial throttle, cruising?

Background details: I'm running DSM 450cc's with the VAFC hack, D16Z6 turbo'ed with the greddy kit at about 6psi. I had some problems when I first got it up and running with the hack that seemed to be that the car was running EXTREMELY rich. I had a finicky, stuttery idle and my autometer A/F was almost always reading full rich all the time. I checked my timing a couple days ago and found to be extremely advanced while idling (like 22 or so degrees). I backed it down to about 14 degrees, and the rich running ordeal seemed to disappear when I did this. It's now running fairly well (idle is still not what i want it to be, and it is a little lean on the top end (detonation), but it runs and doesn't take a quarter tank of gas to go 30 miles.

Anyway, this CEL has just recently started coming on, while I was running really rich and also after I fixed the timing (and rich problem apparantley)/

Anyone else get this occasionally? I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to it, but every once in a while (meaning once every couple of days or so) I throw a CEL while just cruising, not boosting or pushing it hard or anything, just driving along. I've had it happen driving slowly in the city at a steady pace, and also driving 60 on the highway.

I believe it's CEL 43, when I check the code it flashes 4 times slowly then 3 times quick. According to my Chiltons manual code 43 is "Fuel Deliver System error" or something like that.

Anyone else ever get this?

The most common cause of that is an O2 sensor that is either cycling slow or going out of range. Throw a new O2 in it, you may have fouled it with all that extra fuel.

Yep, what he said.

I've clicked a code 43 a time or two myself. If you boost a bit more frequently, it seems to keep the O2 sensor a bit cleaner and the ECU less prone to click a 43.

FYI, I only have that problem at sea level... with how my setup and tune continually changes, that dosen't really mean much.

I had the same problem. I couldnt figure out what it was. wasnt boosting and threw too lean/rich code. took out my o2 sensor and it was pretty fouled from running rich, I just cleaned it by take a butane soldering iron from radio shack and attached the torch tip and heated the tip until it was clean looking. Worked fine since.
