Re: turbo setup
What are your goals for this setup? More often than not, people decide to build their engines for power goals that are within the capabilities of the stock block. Its a misconception that a turbo setup requires low-compression, forged pistons or you can only run *Irrelevant number* PSI. Lets hear some rationale before you build...

Re: turbo setup
If you want to make 350whp + I would suggest building it with:
CP Pistons
Manley Turbo Tuff Rods
ACL Race Bearings
New OEM timing belt
New OEM Water Pump
NEw OEM Oil Pump
etc

Good thing he's said that's what he's doing...eh? Give him a chance to reply before bombarding him with possibly-irrelevant info. Also, I dont see the point to get the Manley rods when Eagles work just fine. Also, go with Honda bearings...they're softer and wont chew up the crank in case something goes wrong.

Re: turbo setup
honoestly id be cool with 250+ hp thats my goal for now is to get to 250
so couldnt i keep stock rods.
then i was thinking maybe a level 3 cam from bisi
aem fuel rail
450 injectors
and i was thinking of getting a turbo kit from turbonetics
but they dont sell fuel management with there kits
would i absolutely need that to make it run
so thats my thoughts tell me where im wrong or right thank u

Re: turbo setup
Ok...the AEM fuel rail is a waste of money. Your stock rail will flow enough to support 500whp so save your money for something else. As for the cams, you need to match your cams to your setup and power level. Now is this a D or a B?? I should have asked that before anything else...250whp on a stock B is childs play, 250whp on a stock D is pushing it a little.

Re: turbo setup
250whp on an F22A1 stock engine is entirely possible, but if you want to upgrade to higher power later, you may want to invest in other components for over 500whp. Think about what you're using the car for. Management is a must, and most companies and their "kits" no longer provide it with the rest of the hardware, so you'll need to invest in management separately no matter which kit you get.

Re: turbo setup
Take inventory of what parts you have and compare that to which parts you need. As far as blowing it up since you have no boost controller...i think you've misunderstood what a boost controller does. The wastegate, located on the 4th runner on your manifold, is what actually controls the boost pressure. It does so by bypassing a certain amount of exhaust gas when an ideal pressure is reached. A boost controller messes with the vacuum signal to the wastegate and allows you to run higher-than-wastegate-spring pressure. Did that clear anything up?

Re: turbo setup
i have no turbo parts yet.
so im really open to anything o and thanks that does clear it up so what makes you run like just 10 pounds instead of a higher amount

Re: turbo setup
There is a spring inside the wastegate which is built for a certain pressure. You can only buy a smaller spring to run less boost, but if you wanted more than the wastegate spring, you could either buy a bigger spring or a boost controller. A boost controller ONLY RAISES boost pressure

Re: turbo setup
You need to also look at the parts that will fit your chassis and engine. Intercooler, charge pipes, exhaust manifold, and all of the oil feed and return lines. A "Kit" can provide that, but you must be careful of the quality of the parts that are a part of that "kit". Again, you will have to look to what power you're looking for to match your equipment. stop worrying about "how many psi to run", because it will be based upon the turbocharger that you use as well as the ability of your tuner. Plan your budget, and don't forget other things like a clutch, gauges, and fuel pump. Stay away from e-bay for the major parts. Intercoolers and such are ok.

Re: turbo setup
Well whoever told you Ebay kits are good didnt know what he/she was talking about. If you want to invite problems, go ahead. Personally, i'd rather not deal with broken parts every week.
**Now i understand in saying this that someone MUST disagree with me. I'm sure someone, somewhere has a perfectly healthy Ebay kit with 20k miles on it. Thats wonderful and all, but you're an anamoly. Just because you got lucky doesn't mean the next guy will...so keep your post to yourself and we'll all move along happily**

Re: turbo setup
you dont need aftermarket cams for your goals, stock honda cams are pretty awesome as they are.
from what i've heard stock rods with forged pistons/aftermarket rods with stock pistons aren't a good idea. coulda been some bad info though.

Re: turbo setup
As we said. Stay away from E-bay (with the exception of say a Mishimoto Intercooler). don't bother with the rest of the kits at all.
I agree w/ Schister66, someone one will undoubtedly say that "its fine as long as you brace this, and fix that". 20K miles is NOTHING compared to a quality kit or custom put together with quality parts

Yes, read the FAQ. It is all-knowing and will give you more than enough information to start your build. If you have more questions beyond that, then ask. Also, you can always PM people for specifics...i bet i get 3-4 PMs a week for random questions.
