T3 6262-SP .63 vs .82 housing.. Dyno Comparison
When i decided that i wanted this turbo i tried looking for dyno comparisons on the 2 different housings because the .82 housing was on backorder and was at least 2 months out. At the time i couldn't find any dyno's of the .63 housing so i had no clue what to expect... When i got the turbo and put it on the dyno the car just didnt seem to be making as much power as we expected per lb of boost. i know every setup is different. After talking to TurboDano (thanks for the help) he said the .82 housing would indeed help and the spool diff would be very minimal.
After putting the car on the dyno last night and the results were:
Off the wastegate (10psi) it gained 13whp... previous was 343whp/235tq
Here is the closest graph i could fine comparing the 2 housings at the same power level.
And here is the Psi vs Psi graph.. well its close at least.. the lower number graph is the .63 housing at 22.5-23psi... while the .82 housing was @22 psi..
as you can see the spool difference is minimal... the power/tq increase is pretty good after 6000rpm...
Basically if you have a choice, get the .82 housing the spool diff is not worth the less power you will make...
This was on a 81.25 rod/pistons gsr on E85.
Thanks

now how much money did it cost to upgrade to the .82? If it was more than 40.00 IMO its not worth it at the power level your at. I mean its def the right choice from the beginning but to buy a housing for 200-300 i dont see the power gains worth it.
congrats though
congrats though

When you order the turbo you have the option to get either a .63 or .82 housing... when i ordered mine they told me 4 weeks after i ordered it the .82 housing was on backorder and didnt know how long till it would be ready... turn ahead 4 months the housing comes off back order... so basically wait 5 months to get the car up and running or get the turbo that is available and get the housing later on down the road... i was not up to waiting That long... the 4 months i got to drive the car was worth the $175 i spent on the housing...

I wonder what the difference would be from the .82 housing to a .96 or 1.00 housing? Is the .82 open or divided?

Once you go above .82 on a street car the gains vs. lag wont be worth it. .82 is big enough for anything based off of a t3 exhaust side. If you need a bigger housing its time to look into a different turbo.

Housings are a very expensive thing to swap for the average person not on special pricing, your lucky its only a T3 the T4 housings cost a bit more.... I was trying to decide on what hotside I wanted and I wont mention who it was but he suggested just start trying housings to get backpressure where I want it like they were $50 a piece lol

I currently have a divided .84 T3 housing and have been thinking about moving to a larger T4 housing. I don't think I would see too much more lag but alot of top end power similar to the differences in the graph above.

Hey gringo, have you tried to lower your vtec engagement point lower? I got my tuner to lower mine from 5500 to 4500 and it helped out a ton!

We originally had the vtec @ 4500 and raised it to 5200... it might do well at 5000 but i am not sure.. it seems to be ok where it is at...
As far as the housings they offer i am not sure..
