If my wastegate has gone bad, would it make a bad noise or anything, or would it just not limit the boost?

most likley would not limit boost, but let it creep or spike way up..

I have a crazy whirling noise coming from the turbo, definately not the normal spinning, started 2 days ago, i dont get any boost to the engine, I can hear is spin but its much louder then normal, i was thinking MAYBE the wastegate is just stuck open, haven't gotten a chance to take it apart, little late to determine it the wastegate, ordered a new turbo yesterday, gonna be uber PISSED if it turns out to be the wastegate. Anyway, its super loud, cuts out at high RPM's, I dont ever recieve any boost to the engine, all charge piping is intact and fine, no oil leaks(no oil in the charge piping. BOV is still whistling at low rpms in 5th gear, so BOV is fine i'm pretty sure, only things left is the turbo, wastegate, or intercooler, and a bad intercooler couldnt possibly cause this sound. It's a cheap ebay turbo so i'm willing to bet that's the culprit. Was just wondering if maybe because I have shitty luck that my symptoms could be a bad wastegate.
