Should I get one of these when I get my block done by GE? They are going for 160 and I am hoping to push alot of power 350+. Is it worth the money or should I put it somewhere else? Thanks

I know the scatter shield is supposed to go by the tranny somewhere, but where does it exactly go and how can something that small protect a flying flywheel or clutch disc?

If you run track event and run faster than 11.99, they are required...

the biggest problem is finding them now... i called GE and they had
me call AC Autotechnica and they said a 2 week wait.. if you have
any faster hookups, drop me a line...

Not necessary but if you have the money are are running a lot of power it might e a good idea. I know people kinda recommended them for aluminum flywheels especially if you're revving over 9K. Better safe then have a flywheel explode at 9 thousand rpms and destroy your entire car possibly even hurting you or passengers badly!

after this last weekend at the Lone Star nationals, one guy in a white b20 ls/vtec integra blew up an ACT clutch that ripped through the bell housing, snapped the driveshaft and grenaded into the tranny, taking out a less than one month new type r trannsmission and partial damage to the block. He was putting down around 200ish hp to the wheels. I would have to say get a scatter shield regardless.

That just goes to show you how benificial a scatter shield is. If anyone wants one call Girard at jistasu racing. He probably looking to do a group buy after his experience!!!!!

we ran 13.1 and blew the ACT clutch after 3rd gear, 3/4 down the track.
CLUTCH MASTERS all the way!

STr makes them,there in the summit catalog for 219.95 for the hyrdaulic trannys for gsr and other dohc vtec models.Some one please tell me how this can save your engine and tranny?it just looks like a peice of metal.

STR is out of business if you didnt know by now. You dont need a scatter shield unless you are running at a track. Rules states that if you running faster then 11.99 (i think) then you are required to have it. It's bascially a safety device to protect you.

edit- you can purchase the scatter shields from AC Autotechnic.

I have seen a blanket kinda like a bullet proof vest that goes around your tranny for the same reason, is that as effectice as the scatter shield?

its not suppose to save ur tranny, suppose to save your feet from being chopped off.

Want to protect a 5k motor? Then do her right! Feed enough fuel to her, and change her oil every 1,500 miles. Get her tunned properly!! Don't beat on her all the time. Damm starting to sound like a girl. LOL

well...unless your are running a 11.99 or faster put your money elsewhere. If you have a aluminum flywheel, your way less likely to shatter it. They all fit poorly and make it so you lose the amount the bolts for the trany go into the block. I have striped out threads because of the B&M scatter sheild. Plus if it shatters, its on the passanger side so its not going to hit the driver.
