S2000 S362? S256? 58? help!!
ok, got this setup in mind for my ap2.. i have most of it except for the turbo. im fabbing my own kit, so the main piece that its built around is in the air.
it all started wiht the S366.. i realized that the turbo makes good power, but is WAY overkill for my goals.. so i worked my way down.
i'm looking for an easy 400whp on pump and 500+ on race, you know, the usual. now, i had my eyes on the S256 because of its size and i've heard it can produce 500whp but all of the dynos/results i've seen, the turbo is pushing like 38psi or some rediculous number up there, definately not what i want. i want to make power at moderate boost levels.
then, came the S258, a more efficient version of the S256.. so i was all for it. then i started working my way back up the line to the S362 which was a good all around turbo, makes power like a 35R but spools a bit faster. so considering my purchase is NOT GOING TO BE EXTENDED TIP.. i thought of the S360 which is slightly smaller wheels than the 362 but will still make the power up top with moderate spool time.
like i said, my purchase will NOT be extended tip... with that in mind, i dont care about spool times (meaning i dont expect the turbo to achieve full boost at 3k).. i still havemy eyes on the S362 because of its power potential and supposed quick spool. even if i reach full boost by 5.5k-6k i'll be happy with it.
what does H-T think? help?
thanks in advance.

$$$ is a major factor. i wouldnt pick a less efficient turbo by choice.
i'd be willing to sacrifice a few hundred RPM and make some good power up top.
NON ET = $800 shipped
ETT = ~$1200 shipped
im on a slight budget here. i mean i've seen the non extended and its really not thatbad. i just dont knwo which one to pick.

I know it's not a S2000 engine, but we got ~ 550 out of a non ETT S362 on a ls/vtec on 29-30 pounds.
I think for it's price range, there aren't many turbos in it's price range.
Last turbo ~ there would be the new precision 62mm billet. Most are going with a 6265, but there isn't a lot of data on this new setup yet.

FWIW, i went ahead and ordered an S360 with the .70 v-band rear housing. it has a 2mm smaller compressor/turbine inducer.. but the compressor EXDUCER is 2.4mm larger on the S60 than the S362. so im guessing it'll spool up a little faster than the S362 but be able to pump a little more CFM?
here are the stats.
Turbocharger Name - S360
Compressor Wheel Inducer - 60mm
Compressor Wheel Exducer - 83mm
Turbine Wheel Inducer - 74mm
Turbine Wheel Exducer - 65mm
Turbocharger Name - S362
Compressor Wheel Inducer - 62mm
Compressor Wheel Exducer - 80.6mm
Turbine Wheel Inducer - 76.3mm
Turbine Wheel Exducer - 67.6mm
looks good to me. the S360 is on its way. i'll post results when it goes in.
