I am removing my current boosted engine back to N/A. If I will rarely drive the car afterwards is a retune neccesary or will I just use a little more gasoline? Can I still use my aftermarket MAP if it's not boosted?

If you are going back to 100% N/A then you should be able to put a stock ECU back in the car. If not then I would go get retuned.

Wait for others to chime in though.

Yes you would need to retune...Unless you have a OEM ECU and have minor upgrades. If its all stock then oem ecu would be fine. Laeving youre boosted map would not be smart as the timing map is going too be different boosted vs.NA. Re-tune is always a smart idea in any case.

Depending on what engine management you are on will dictate if you can still use your aftermarket map sensor,replace the injectors with the stock size. Otherwise the ecu and map will have to be replaced with stock components also

I probably wouldnt attempt it, because I have never setup a boosted tune to run well not boosted... but technically it is possible...

Just buy a stock or chipped ecu.. what's the NA set up going to be? If its built get a retune

like said ^^ u have 2 options:

oem ecu and replace injectors to stock, fuel pressure to stock

or

retune for NA with what u have.

garaging it will prob be ur best bet.

If you have no one to tune there in Germany, there of plenty of people on here that sell ECU's chipped that can burn you a map depending on your mods, before they send it to you.

If the car has been tuned for boost i can't see a reason why taking the turbo off will send the fueling or ignition timing out. The only thing that will happen is that he won't build positive pressure so the car will be driving around in the NA section of the map like it was before when it wasn't under boost ???? I'm pretty much sure he'll be fine (EDIT, providing he removes the turbo only)...

Rich has it right.

The only thing that wouldn't be correct is if the tune wasn't great/correct in the vacuum section for higher rpm's (where it was previously tuned to be under boost). It should be ballpark, but it might not be great (similar to a base tune).

Yeah i confirm that. OP, please post screen shots of the fueling and igniton tables in the map if possible. I want to see how linear the tables look.

Put your stock or chipped ecu back in. You don't want to run the turbo tune on an N/A engine..

I agree with Rich. Driving with no turbocharger is just like driving with no boost which should be a condition that has been tuned into the current map. I dont think you should have an issue AS LONG AS your tuner did enough part throttle and light load tuning.

I do this when I break in new engines. I use the previous turbo tune with no turbo. It'll just run on the vacuum parts of the map. Keep the same EFI components for the tune obviously - MAP, Injectors etc.

However if you are returning the car to NA permanently than just put the stock ECU/EFI parts back in.
