Quaife LSD install Problems
I knew there would be something OK am installing a Quaife into my L3 gearbox D16a6 is the engine. I measured the the diff bearing and yeah it was 40 mm so I ordered the 40mm diff it went into the gearbox fine no problems..
But after bolting the gearbox back up my mechanic discovered that the freaking inner CV joint wouldn't fit 2mm to big, the diff is 26mm the inner CV is 28mm, also my CV iis a 27 spline type the diff is 25. So I went round to some wreckors and driveline speacialists ... I can get the right hand side (drivers side JDM car) working by using a inner cv out of another car a carb'd civic putting that onto my existing driveshaft, I would also need to get a custom diff seal to hold the oil in the old one was 40 mm new one is 35mm but with the exterior dimension of the 40mm....
But for the left hand side the only kinds of 25 spline 26mm shafts I can get in this country are 1 piece they willnot go into my gearbox, as it doesn't have room for a full size CV joint as it was built with a half shaft setup in mind.
I guess I wrote all this crap out in hope that someone else has gone through this and can reccomend away out...
I am thinking either a custom drive shaft milled down 2mm and resplined or sending the diff back to the US for a refund...
Any help appreciated
