Default Port & Polish, Valve Job-Please recommend

hi

Can some experts recommend a good port & polish and/or valve job for a B18C1 virgin head for turbo application?

I have the following options but wanna hear some feedbacks from pals here:

Firstly... What are your HP goals because chances are you can make them with the stock head.


They're all reputable (I personally haven't heard of Headgames but that doesn't mean anything)

If you're doing the head you might as well do the valve job. Although the Factory has a 3 angle so if so go for the 5 angle.

Although if the factory 3 is sealing fine the 5 angle isn't really neccisary.

Also I see you're in singapore... have you considered just practicing doing it yourself on some junk heads... shipping/import tax have got to be killer. Porting/polishing isn't rocket science you jsut have to be carefull and make sure you don't go too far. There are tons of information and turtorials on the internet.

Larry @ Endyn is awesome... Scratch JG enginedynamics from that list... RLZ is great too but u may have to wait some time...

Lol you make it sound so simple, rocket science or not..... not everyone is capable to port our heads. I know a bulk majority or Reputable V8 head porters would make a disaster of our heads.

The Valve Job IMO is most crucial for us, let someone that knows what to do get it done right... I recommend Headgames or RLZ

Laskey Racing uses PortFlow so you can condense that on your list. Not an "expert" but I have used them as well and my experience with Mike@Laskey/ PortFlow's work was EXCELLENT.

Head looked and has performed amazingly well, they did a killer job and Mike took care of everything to make it happen. My head was not the normal run of the mill b series stuff they probably do tons of, yet the turnaround and work was like they had done these hundreds of times already. The lead time was pretty minimal considering that and it was a busy time of year to boot.



Heard alot of good things about RLZ as well as Headgames... no personal experience though.

I can vouch for mike@ laskey racing.. Work they do is awesome. Mike is a one man team so he can't waste time on screw ups.

I truly appreciate all of your inputs. It is with this team work spirit that this portal is kept alive. I have written to some of them to get some quotes and of course, I stick to what is being recommended here. Last year I nearly committed on a B18C1 darton-sleeved block from JG Engine Dynamics, but in the end I go for ERL's darton-sleeved. Thank, guys ...

www.cncport.com 1st hand an awesome head / wait times and customer service 2nd to none.

rlz is one of the best but the wait times are pretty crazy.

Mike Laskey/ Portflow unsurpassed quality and wait times never mind the great customer service Mike is the man.

I have dealt with all 3 of these guys! you will be happy with either of them.

unless your trying to build a 9-8 second sfwd car then dont touch the head other than cams, springs/retainers and maybe valves and a mild valve job if you do new valves. the stock head will flow plenty for most builds that are street cars

if you HAVE to touch it then i would say headgames imo

you can skip the rlz wait time and get a head from IPG I know he has them in stock.

hi, Turbo-LS:

I esp. like your comment. Yeah, help me to save some hard earned dough. Mine is a street car, yes. Can you explain in more detail what do u mean by mild valve job-Intake and/or Exhaust? Is it 3-axis/angle vs 5-axis/angles or is it something new to me? What cam will u recommend? Now I am using stock GSR cam. Look like lotta folks recommend Skunk2 Tuner 1.

thsese heads work i picked up 30/40 hp preety much at every boost level tranny let go at about 685hp at 32 psi 84mm b16 shelf rod/piston about 7 to 1 on the comp 64mm bullseye turbo the old head was one brad did a long time ago with big valves and it worked really well from the start the new head evan has stock size valves in it
