Oil pudle in the intake side of my turbo.
Last I checked putting on my intercooler I noticed oil inside my turbo intake tube right beside the turbo inlet. At first I thought that it was comming from my breather valve cover but that was about a month ago when I put a hose on the breather valve and let it run underneith my car.
Now 1 month later I checked and see there is still an oil pudle inside the rubing for the turbo inlet. Is my turbo seal going bad? What are the symptoms of a turbo going bad? I'm scared

I feel for you, my turbo, brand new, blew a seal on the other side.
unfortunately you will eventually have to get it rebuilt. I think that if its a small leak you will be ok running as it is but that oil will shoot through the compressor and start coming into your intake. If you are not burning oil (not coming out the turbine side) then it is probably the oil seal so long as there is not excessive side to side motion in your shaft. My piston ring went on mine and meant a complete rebuild pretty much (fortunately under warranty).

Ok I did some research and found out something interesting. First off cylinder 3 has the ringlanding shattered, piston 2 ringlanding cracked, piston 1 ringlanding cracked, piston 4 good.
I'm getting those replaced but as for the puddle of oil in the intake side of the turbo one of the symptoms is blown pistons getting oil blow bye escaping thru the exhaust manifold and ending up via turbo intake and exhaust. The oil puddle is very heavily baked so I'm assuming its from the blown piston blow bye.
My car should be ready today so I'm gonna do the regular break in period for pistons (driving like a granny) and then check to see if I have any oil puddles. If there is'nt any then its from the blown pistons. If not turbo buildup here I come!

Depends on the amount and color of the oil...if it's just a small amount and dark black that can (believe it or not) be fairly normal and not an indication of anything bad. Oil of this type can be found where the air intake pipe connects to the turbo housing.

According to my shop and GReddy is just normal minimal blow-by oil from the turbo and nothing to worry about...standard operating proceedure...I admit that sounds weird but thats what they said...although I sure theres a better "technical" explanation.
Its been like that on mine for thousands of miles..occasionally I take off the intake pipe, wipe it down and its no big deal...although we are talking about less than a teaspoon of oil....if your seeing much more than that it may be something else.
It is sure nice when its really nothing to worry about!
