IAT error code on Hondata S300b
Just wrapping up the installation of my turbo kit and am getting an IAT error message. More info:
B18C1 in a 96 Civic EX coupe. Bought the car with the swap, rebuilt the motor to stock specs and never had any check engine lights. The IAT is installed in place but not connected to anything. Was running a P72 OBDIIa ECU.
Go-Auto, street kit w/ Hondata S300b installed in an OBDI P28.
Received the base map from my tuner and have an appt this Saturday for tuning.
PROBLEM: Idles very high 2-2.5K when warm. Had a knowledgeable friend check things out and he has indicated that the IAT error code is causing the Hondata to go into limp mode.
Have the AEM wideband installed and reading is steady at about 10 on the gauge at idle.
The IAT has never been connected from the get-go. It's installed but the two wires are just sitting there.
I can't seem to locate the wires that connect to the IAT from the engine harness.
Questions:
Why am I getting this error code now when I never had the issue with my P72 OBDII ecu?
Does it sound right that because of this error code, the Hondata is going into limp mode, dumping more fuel then it should?
Can we disable / do we want to disable the IAT from the Hondata ECU?
If I need to run wires from the IAT sensor to the ECU, where does the second wire go to? (One goes directly to the IAT pin on the ECU, D?).
Thank you in advance for any solid advice.

Re: IAT error code on Hondata S300b
Recalling back from when it was stock, there was a sensor (round, 2 pin) that connected to my CAI via a rubber grommet. Perhaps this is the IAT on the 96 Civic?
This would make sense as I didn't get an error code before and the cold start worked well.
If so, do you think I can run the wires from this now not connector to the existing IAT on the intake manifold?
Or does it need to be drilled / placed on the intake side (between BOV & throttle body)?
Anyone?

no run the iat on the intake manifold i had to switch my placment on the manifold as well.
there are a lot of threads on the obd1 style IAT (tubular with two screws)
they even sell the weld on plate if you do not have a place for it

use the obd1 harness. just plug it in and you should be good to go.
