Default how to find out your valves are bent

ok i have a qestion how do machine shops that do head work findout valves are bent?....also has there been any time there has been an valve hit the piston and not bend?

vacuum test? compression test? you can look at the valve and see that it has run out on it. pistons hit valves and stuff messes up.

the head is not on an block and i have the valves out....but whats funny is when my friend took his head off the valves looked fine and the piston had marks in it where it looked like valves hit it....theres no marks on the valves

You can put spark plugs in it. turn the head up side down and fill the chambers with a fluid. (water works well) thats the quick and easy way to check for bent valves.

Maybe the valves hit the pistons and the person replaced the valves and did not touch the pistons. I have done this a few times on my bs motor when I needed to.

good point do you think it could be seen tho....if the valves are bend dont you think they would be bent enuff to tell?

well that maybe but i dont think the motor has ever been worked on befor i think its the first time the heads been off

test it with water and find out.
