A hole saw would work well. Most people that are doing a hood exit exhaust also are putting some sort of designed piece of metal over the hole which is probably done on a cnc or some sort to make it look nicer. If you do it carefully with a fine tooth hole saw it will come out pretty good and you can grind the edges if need be

Haha too true

.but really, most mock up where the exhaust and dump pipe will exit and use a hole saw to remove the bulk of the material. . They then do the fine cuttin with a jigsaw or something.

The hole needs to be oversized so the heat doesn't affect the paint surrounding the hole, they then put something around the hole to cover the over cut, some use stainless steel or carbon fiber... the problem is these aren't ready made as there's such a vast difference between setups so you'll have to make your own

Normally you'd have whatever material you want cut on a water jet so that you get nice clean holes and contours. Normally you make two, one for the top and bottom of the hole and traditionally you rivet them together.

The main issue (especially if the car is street driven) is rain going down the exhaust and into the turbo... in my version of the hood exit, I've made a small collection point where water will pool and drain via a hard line out of the pipe. Of course this is all in my head and on sketches.

Proline makes plugs for exhaust systems for motorcycles, dirtbikes, etc. And I think they have 3 and 4 inch versions, if not you can make your own.

Shouldn't we call that an up pipe then? Also, a hole saw and then a file after would make it come out nice.

K series make hood exits so easy.

I'm thinking hood exit more and more

Because

1. **** my ******* neighbors who brought their families and dogs to watch my house burn and not even ask if I was alright
2. Anti lag testing at 4am on a monday will be awesome because see #1
3. I'm too low to run under the car (unless I channel the unibody)
4. Oval piping to run under the car is cocaine expensive

But it's a street car that gets road raced, I don't think my tracks will let me run (track day or event) because it doesn't exit behind the front wheels

And of course rain... I don't want a flapper lol, nor have to worry about covering the exhaust if I'm out and it rains

Well played sir, well played.

That's why I'm heavily debating bumper exit

But again depending on sanctioning body, event type and car class they normally have to exit behind the driver.

Unlimited classes can do whatever so a hood exit would be fine but you get dropped in the shark tank with the big boys

Here's how I did mine.

One thing that doesnt get talked about for some reason in all the hood exits exhaust thread is the actual exhaust fumes. I can tell you that (with mine) the cabin is like a giant vacuum sucking everything straight in the car. You can hardly breathe driving with the windows down and the sunroof open.

You can make a duct so the blower only gets air from underhood, lowering fumes in the car. Or put a hepa filter on it...

My houses caught on fire early april and this company brought smoke scrubbers using hepa filters, I blew cigarette smoke in the inlet and nothing came out the outlet, no smoke or smell

I'll look into how they filterand what the main filter isbecause I thought about using one of my cabin air intake anyways even though I do not use air conditioning
