Default Help with ZC head gasket problem

I blew my head gasket and want to change it. I want to get a better one since i'm turbocharged now. My questions is whats the process to remove the camshafts and what gasket would you recommend me? Thanks for any help.

Use a metal headgasket. If you are talking about a dohc ZC - there is only one metal headgasket and thats the HKS. If you have a sohc ZC, id recommend using a d16y8 headgasket as they are cheapest.

yeah i'm talking about the DOHC ZC. I seen that HKS is bigger than 75mm those that make a difference i think it's 76mm. Whats the pattern to take of the cams? Anyone?

Yeah its 76mm - but that wont matter. I run the 76mm gasket on my 75mm bore without issue.

As for removing the cams - it doesnt really matter that much. I undo the cam bolts in the outside and work my way in. You wont snap a cam, and since the motor isnt spinning it wont hurt anything.

I take it off with the intake manifold connected since its easier. But either way works whatever is easier for you.

one last question. I was thinking of a port and polish and griding the cams is this really worth it or is it a waste of money i can invest it somewhere else?

camshafts should be removed by loosening cam caps from the outside in, in a couple steps. vavle spring pressure is acting on the cams and if taken off in the wronge sequence you could break a cam. As a general rule loosen from the outside in and tighten from the inside out in a criss cross pattern, you will end up with less warped and broken parts.

The dohc ZC responds well to cams. A ported head wont help much until you try to push more then 350whp.

Cometic does offer one, but by all means get the HKS if at all possible. It will be listed as the D16A1 gasket at many places, but it is the ZC/D16A1
