Help me picking Valvetrain Parts
well for the winter i am planning on working on my b16a2 head.
Head only has gsr cams on it . My car is turbocharged.
i was looking at supertech dual Valve Springs, Titanium Retainers, and valves. Does anyone know how high i can rev with these cams and make power?
i was searching and came across on how people are running type S retainers with the ST dual valve springs. How strong are these type S retainers and how high rpms can they handle . i heard they are only 40 bucks for them .
As for the valves i don't plan on getting a P&P for now so
can my stock valves handle lets say 9000rpms? whats the different from the supertech or type R valves?

Re: Help me picking Valvetrain Parts
im running that exact same setup, had itr cams though at the end. they make two different supertech springs, both are dual but one is a bit beefier than the other.
as for the valves, supertech offers an inconel version of valves for the exhaust which is way worth it in my opinion. as for the intake valves, the supertech ones are coated which i believe every manufacturer is coating the intakes now. in the all motor car we run hollow stemed titanium valves which they do not give away, but do not run these in a turbocharged car.
with the itr cams, bigger of the two supertech springs, supertech valves (which mine are +0.5mm) we were revving to 10.5k with no problems.
as for using stock valves for 9k, i dont see why not beings the redline for the type r is 9k anyways, isnt it?

you can run any size valves without a p&p, but my head was all done at portflow by tom. when running oversized valves, its not the ports your concerned about, but the valve seats, hence when switching valves, even if they are the same diameter, you must get a valve job.

any little bit helps, go with oversized if your gonna spend the money to buy new valves, but remember you gotta get a valve job no matter which size valves you go with, stock or oversized.
