H22 walking timing belt at crank pully.
My timing belt is walking only at the crank pully. Its only walking off max 1/8th inch. i do not have the balancer shaft pully or the crank pully installed yet. I was wondering if the balancer shaft pully helped keep the timing belt on. is this normal?

Re: H22 walking timing belt at crank pully.
depending on the crank pulley itself, not totally sure about the obd1 h22, but obd2 the pulley has teeth on it(for tdc sensor), and then the balance shaft belt pulley for the crank is the other guide. Either way (balance shafts removed or installed) you have to have the balance shaft pulley on the crank so the Timing belt has something to rest against and so that the crank pulley itself will bolt on properly and not hit the plastic cover.

you should probably leave the balancer belt tensioner on. that acts as the upper guide for the timing belt. and of course you must leave the lower balancer belt pulley on the crankshaft to have the crank pulley installed at the right depth.
