I did a search. Did anyone ever figure out what size freeze/soft plug is needed to plug the stock PCV canister hole? Does honda carry it?

Are you sure? I just bought one today and 1 5/16 is WAY too big. I found that a 34.3mm (odd huh?) freeze plug worked perfect. I got it at Schucks.

I also bought a 34.3 mm freeze plug but for whatever reason it kinda slid right in. i was expecting a little tighter fit, so me and my friend are gonna try a 34.5 mm. If there is such a freeze plug anyway.

1.345" plug will give you a perfect interference fit.

Back from the somewhat dead. Well. I got a few and tested them in my LS block and the perfect fit is the 34.22mm or 34.3mm is what the label on the slide out drawer at kragen said but the package says 34.22.
Heres a pic with the part number for you guys and a pic of it tapped into the hole! so no more debates around this. now this part number and the partnumber for the two barbed fittings are known! yeah!!! by the way. only $2.49.

Where is the part # for the barbed fittings? Is it in another post or somthing?

So is there a step by step summary of the mod? You remove the stock canister, put the freeze plug in its place, and remove which 2 block plugs (replacing them with the barbbed fittings and plumbing them to a catch can)?

does that happen to be the same size as the DOHC ZC?.. also let me get this straight..
the hole on the back of the block connects to that block box.. which then has a hose going up to the PCV and then when under the right presure the PCV opens and lets it back into the intake to burn off the gases.
so if i plug the hole.. then wouldn't that make the presures in the crankcase rise? which is bad?.. so what the point in pluging it?.. do you run another type of relief valve or what?.. i'm confused.. main thing is i want to get rid of that black can, so i can have more clearence to run my oil line to the turbo.. right now is really tight and i can't get a clamp on the hose.. i'm scared one day it might blow off, which would mean loose of oil pressure.
some body explain this please.. yes i've search but everyone described the aftermarket ones.. not the stock ones

This should help you understand why they are plugging up the hole, I'm going to do the same thing on my turbo motor.

Hmm... I wonder if I could drill and tap the freeze plug and run the oil return line from my catch can directly into that since it is basicly the lowest point on the engine above the oil pan. (And the oil return from the old "black box" oil seperator to begin with.)

Personaly, I run the Endyn system and it works as designed. The main cost of it was the catch can itself which is ~$75 or so on its own. It has internal baffles that assist in stripping oil vapors from the air, even though I just use a filter on the top anyhow. But I can see how the price feels "bloated" for $150 when the other components in the kit prove to only be $4-5 each. At least we know what to get and where to get it now if anyone decides to make their own setup similar to the Endyn system.

where do you buy thuis part from?? also after you plug up the charcoal canister hole with that freeze plug what do you do with the brass fitting thats above it where the hose on top of the charcoal canister plugs into?


also arent you guys worried that it will blow out? i mean the charcoal canister is held in by a bolt but now you are just plugging up a hole with a freeze plug and honda bond.. no worries?

are there any draw backs or probems with just leaving the PCV canister on theblock and capping off the hose on the top that is supposed to go back into your intake manifold? is that bad?

I had to hammer my freeze plug in so I'm not worried about it going anywhere, there should be no pressure in there to blow it out if you have a good ventilation/breather system, which you most likely will if you're going through the trouble of plugging that hole and stuff.

1/8" plug for the fitting that goes into the stock breather.

ok from what you said i think i have the wrong understanding of what i need to do to remove the PCV system.... i read the whole thread and even the links but i ams still confused.. can anyone tell me what exaclty am i supposed to be doing?

pull the black box off and both of the lines that go to it can be capped/plugged at their source. plug the hole that the black box leaves with the freeze plug fitting shown above, then add the two fittings that you get from honda to the back of the block after removing the allen head plugs. then run those fittings to a line to the catchcan that you choose.

um i think ill just keep my pcv system there. thanx for trying to explain to me what this was about.. i just dont understand how you can get those fittings from honda if there were allen key plugs there in the first place. plus i dont know which allen plugs you are talking about and also how do i know which hose goes to which fitting on the catch can.. see i completely dont underdstand. ill just keep the pcv system.

so for the full "quasi-endyn" kit you need the 2 barbs the freeze plug and the plug for the 1/8" hole, some hose, and the catchcan? and then do you connect the valvecover to the IM still, or just put a little filter there?
