first D16 build.. can you help me out?
What’s up HT,
I have a few questions on a D16a6 turbo build I’m working on.
So here is my setup after I post what I have I will post the question I have in regards to what would work and my goal.
-D16a6 block (Stock bore)
-Crank is at the shop getting micro-polished
-Vitara pistons
-Eagle rods (weighed balanced)
-Acl race bearings
-Golden eagle block guard
-OEM Honda oil pump
-D16z6 head
-3 angle valve job
-Stock cam regrind by Delta cams to match 2.4/ 272-2 Bisi turbo cam
-Stock retainers/valves/springs
-OEM Honda head gasket
-ARP head bolts
-70mm EBay throttle body
Turbo kit
-Real big intercooler (not sure what brand)
-2.5” cold side piping
-3” v band down pipe
-Gt3076r turbo
-44mm dump tube
-44mm waste gate
-EBay BOV
-Fuel system
-Bosch 320LPH fuel pump
-AEM fuel pressure reg
-Golden Eagle fuel rail
-In line fuel filter (eliminated original)
-Steel braded hose from FP directly to rail
My goal is 450HP on 20 PSI
I’m not daily driving this is just to compete with some of my buddies. I will be the only SOHC build, they are hitting 380’s and 423whp on pump gas, on eBay turbo’s, on stock motors! (WTH). I’m going to be on E85, garret turbo, better fuel system, semi built.
The questions I have are:
-1000cc injectors or bigger?
-top mount/ ram horn/ equal length manifold?
-Should I use the Edlebrock intake manifold, or the Golden Eagle?
-Is it worth the money to go C.O.P for 450 WHP or should I just stick with MSD?
-Will the stock internals hold it together with the regrind cam?
-How much RPM’s do you with this SOHC should be maxed out to?
-Do you think I can make it to 450hp on this block?
-Is 450whp a realistic goal?
I would appreciate your help
thanks

2. I would opt for a ramhorn or Prototype style bottom mount. Top mounts are great for peak power, but if you expect any kind of streetable powerband, its not your best bet.
3. Edelbrock
4. Stock ignition with a little help will suffice - no need to go COP for your goals.
5. Stock valvetrain might be a bit questionable with a larger cam - i'd personally upgrade to something better than stock springs/retainers. For your power goals, its probably fine, but the added abuse from the cam might overload them.
6. Without upgrading the valvetrain, i wouldnt go any higher than stock redline ~7500rpm
7. The power goal itself is realistic, but maybe not with the current parts list as-is
8. Yes, has been done many times

1. 1000ccs are going to be close - i would opt for 1200s or even 1650s if you're looking for 450whp on E85. 1000s should support ~500whp, but that's rough math. 1200s would give you more breathing room.

I was pretty sure I covered all my basics when I started purchasing these parts I'm almost 2grand into this I cant Dyno at less then 420 hp for the money I have spent. what is wrong with what I have? given that I need to purchase the items that you recommend, what in my build do you think should change?

Re: first D16 build.. can you help me out?
i was at the dyno and this guy was getting his crx dynode (obviously), boosting 23psi on a Borg Warner s366 423hp i don't remember how much torque, on a stock block (not sleeved i mean) but he had stock I/M, stock head, all he threw in there was a cam. i been thinking about changing the springs but it will set my build back about a month. is there even dual valve springs for single cam?

Re: first D16 build.. can you help me out?
Who said psi is everything? We are going by turbo size plus psi to get the amount of hp above we not saying psi on every turbo. I know the difference between psi on a small turbo n big turbo.. I'm not expert but your comment makes no sense in this conversation

Re: first D16 build.. can you help me out?
My only concerns with the build are 1.) The injectors might end up being a hair small and 2.) Stock valvetrain with an upgraded cam at those power levels would bother me. I'd at least do springs/retainers.
Other than that, the list (with my prior suggestions above) looks good. You should have no trouble hitting that power goal, so long as the stock sleeves hold out.

Thanks for your input. I'm going to go with 1200cc injectors, edlebrock intake, and ram horn manifold.. I'll post up results soon well unless I get put on child support lol if anyone else has aby suggestions feel free to add on
Thanks all for inputs

This F1_Racer individual is simply going through every possible forum and thread to get his post count up so that he/she is no longer a trial user. 46posts in over a day means that he/she wants to just sell something and run their mouth in the meantime.
