Boosted b16 wont rev past 7800~ rpm????
My friends car is giving us hell. It will not rev past about 7800 rpm. The car is tuned on crome with the rev limiter set at 9000. He had a code for the crank position sensor and from reading I figured this may have been the cause. Well we put in my distributor the light went away and we gave it another go. well the same thing, 7800rpm limiter but now with no check engine lights. Next we tried my computer which is a p30 tuned on crome with a similar set up except my rev limiter is at 9500rpm and works on my car. Again, that damn 7800rpm limited kicks in. So we are lost. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?
.........he just called me and said that his vss check engine light came back on which had been off while we were testing. Don't know if that could have anything to do with it.
PLEASE HELP US!!! haha

Re: Boosted b16 wont rev past 7800~ rpm???? (bokals)
well we couldnt run a stock ecu since that would not tell us anything about the rev limiter being that stock is like 8k, the car is on 1000cc injectors, and its boosted. the computer cannot be the problem, mine works just fine in my car. Something is making the car go into safe mode or something. wiring has been checked a million times. the wiring has not been hacked at all. he has the rywire obd0 - obd1 harness, everthing else is stock.

Re: (junbug66)
He doesn't have an ignition box and neither do I. Just stock ignition. The thing to understand to is not that it isn't making any more power or that its breaking up there is an actually limiter that kicks in. I guess the broader question to ask would be what makes a car have a 7800 limiter when the limiter is set in crome at 9500 rpm. and again the computer and distributor were from my car which works 100%. This **** is killing me.
