Boost problem!
Hi guys!
i have a boost problem, I have 5 psi in first and in second 8 psi and full boost 20 psi in 3-4-5 gear. Full boost is around 7k rpm and i have a first gen 6765 precision, no shaft play at all on the turbo!
the powerband is very high it begins at almost 7k rpm also. It made 549 whp at 20 psi the car has power but nut at the good range!!
Setup is; GE 84mm block,arias piston,manley rods,SIR head,ferrea valves,bisimoto springs/retainers,crower stage 2 turbo cams,edelbrock intake, skunk 2 70mm tb, id 1000c, 6765 precision, 46 mm wastegate

Re: Boost problem!
Actually that's pretty good. You didn't want all 20psi the 1st couple of gears anyway on a turbo that large.
Second, the engine won't make that much exhaust energy for something that big in the lower gears any way, so, again, not that bad.
Third, tuner could have made the car do that with BBG (possibly) or other devices to assist with traction control.

Yeah i know the turbo is not that small, but before with my stock sleeve engine i hit the boost much sooner like at 5500 rpm and ive change nothing except the block!!

Re: Boost problem!
im not familiar with how quickly that turbo would spool on just a spring, but it sounds like it may make sense that its taking a little time in 3rd gear to build up the additional charge of 12 more psi. while I haven't run boost by gear I know that running off just the spring once you've spooled you don't have to wait in any further gears..

Re: Boost problem!
Relax... We're just making sure all bases are covered, and all I the same page, here. You'd be surprised on how purple forget, the devil is in the details. We weren't there when it happened, so you have to give the entire story ;-).
It may not be the solenoid itself but how it is set up with the new block. What is your tuner saying about this so far?

Re: Boost problem!
I'm relax ....The tuner doubt the turbo...we will dyno it again really soon and will keep you update.

Re: Boost problem!
There's a lot more between the turbo and the solenoid.
- vacuum lines (could be collapsing due to length or location)
- damaged vacuum lines or fittings.
- different vacuum sources from one motor to the other
- settings from the software to the solenoid may have changed (highly unlikely but best to check)
-new location of solenoid (if any) since it is a MAC
- change of timing in the software between old and new block. (Some things did change in the tune, especially if a new block) which goes back to software settings.
C'mon. I can't do all of this for ya.
You have a lot to look through together.
