b20 sleeves are weak... what kind of fuel management are you using?

no it wont be safe, your motor will blow. b20 is a b18 bored out, so the sleeves are much thinner than a b18. My advice, build the motor and give it hell, or just run one or the other (run turbo, or run nitrous, not both)

i heard that B20 sleeves are weak. yesterday i was comparing the sleeves on a Ls and B20, both stock. the B20 seemed to have more steel in the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve seemed to have more aluminum. it seems like a B-Series, gsr, ls or b16 block guard won't fit in the block.

i didn't measure anything but does anyone know if there is a difference?

i don't know why everybody has been saying that the b20 sleeves are week.they have much thicker iron sleeves than the b18.they are not b18's that have been bored out.i have seen nitrous and turbo ran on stock sleeves with great success.provided it has the right mixture and it is done in moderation,it will work.

The B20 is not a bored out B18. The sleeve thickness is about the same. The B20's coolant jacket is smaller. The reason why the B20 is weak is because the cylinder inner sleeves are all stuck together. It's a 1 piece design and creates a lot of hot spots. If you look at the B18, each cylinder has it's own inner sleeve. On a B20, if one sleeve cracks, the cylinder next to it will also be affected / cracked.

bottom line is, b20 has weaker sleeves, stick to one power adder or the other, unless you plan to upgrade the sleeves to RS or Golden Eagle.

if this is the case. isn't it easier and safer to use a Vtec Block (ie. GSR or Type R) and sleeve it with a 84mm, 2.0 bore ?

acquiring a B20 Block and sleeving it seems useless when you can do the same to a Vtec block. imo.

are there any benefits from using a B20 block. someone enlighten me.

When i build my motor I want to use a b20 but after this, well Im gonna sleeve it and go all out. Do you think I should be alright? or go with the b18?
