APEXI Power FC
I am very interested in the Apexi Power FC with the commander. I have a '99 GSR and I am currently running these mods:
GReddy Turbo Kit w/ IC, EVO exhaust
MSD SCI Ignition, SS Blaster Coil and ProCap
Nology Hotwires spark plug wires
Iridium IK24 spark plugs
My car is currently running GOOD, but there is that annoying ENGINE CHECK LIGHT always coming on (misfire in cylinders 1,2,3,4). I can't seem to solve the problem. I was hoping this Apexi standalone unit might do the job and would give me a better Air/Fuel mixture as well.
What do you think? do they even make the Power FC for my application? I also heard about the Hondata standalone unit (not familar with that unit)

You should get the check engine light checked out before you do anything because it may not be coming from the ECU nor the FMU. Have it checked out before you put in a stand alone. Did the check engine light come on before or after the MSD? I would bring the car in who is familar with the Greddy kit, i.e. Greddy authorized dealer. It could be that the kit doesn't fit your year integra (99). I believe the kit was made for 96-98 integra GSR's. Not sure if that could be the reason and not sure what honda did to the 99+. If that is the case I would discuss the problem with the Greddy authorized dealer and he/she might suggest the stand alone. If you do, the hondata must be used with a obd1 ecu, that means you must obtain a obd1 ecu (p72 obd1, 94-95 GSR) and get the jumper harness to make it fit. Then you can get the stage four with boost with cost around 1200. If you get the power FC, i am not sure it will fit your year but I would call up apexi themselfs (I don't suggest calling greddy themselfs b/c they don't really help you out and they will suggest on you going to your Greddy authorize dealer to look at it) you might need a harness or something, not sure. There is a deal on GBC for the Power FC for 1265 for both the unit and the cammander. I am unfamilar with both units so I would suggest talking it over with someone who could give you better advice. My advice is just to check your engine light before you do anything else.

Re: APEXI Power FC (KJ)
The Power FC will be able to read boost with the optional boost kit that will soon be coming out. If its haalf as good as the P{ower FC then Ill be happy. My car has never run so smooth put down so much power and have so much versatility. I am more than happy with my purchasse. Also the Power FC will not fit a 2000 GSR.

plug and play like the power fc for obd2 plugs 96-99....
they should also be coming out with a software so that you can adjust parameters realtime on a labtop like Accel DFI, etc... http://www.carmodifications.com

How did you already get the power FC?
I drive an 00 Si and would like the power FC but someone told me that they don't make it for my car yet..Is that not true?
I mean why wouldn't I be able to use the GSR one?

Re: APEXI Power FC (TurboT)
oh yeah guys, i used to have a power fc prior to owning a link ecu...
this was the jap version of the power fc, but nevertheless... the samething...
adjustments wise... it's pretty limited....
monitoring wise... there's a lot you can check and monitor...
the number 1 reason why i did not like the system was because of the difficulty of reading the display, the lack of any closed loop operation,
and no datalogging...
the power fc unit is a work of engineering.... but, it lacks some key items that standalone units and plug and play units... such as dfi, haltech, speed pro, hondata, link... have... so, make sure you choose wisely... it's a lot of cash...
honestly, i've talked to the apexi people about this system....
yes, they have it on their super integra... and i think a couple of guys from XS engineering use it on their sub 11s civic, etc.... but from what the tech was saying... if you're planning on running a decent amount of boost... you're going to have to get the hard coded program swapped and reprogrammed by apexi.... now, that's a pain in the ***...
also... the power fc system that these sub 11s hondas use... are modified... the workings of it are different that what's off the shelf...
so, make sure you do your research... learn, then make a consciensious purchase....
i think i've gone through the most # of different setups...
flushed a lot of $$$$.... but, i guess out of it all... i've learned so much....
IM via AOLIM at chungt1 if you want to talk about it...

Re: APEXI Power FC (TurboT)
Why do you consider that the Power FC is limited? I dont have much experience with Haltech or any standalone systems for that matter but I curious to know what they can do that the Power FC cannot.

Re: APEXI Power FC (TurboT)
I see but what about user friendlyness. Is it as easy to understand as the Power FC? can you do it at the track and while driving. I am more than happy with my Power FC im just curious as to what peoples thoughs are on other systems. Ill let you know how I like the boost kit for the Power FC because im getting it very soon. I only run 16 psi max so hopefully it will still do its job well.
