Default another detonation question and i need help to resolve it.

i just recently put together a ls/vtec. at the moment it is only boosted about 6 psi. it was at 10, then 8, and now 6. the timing is at 14 degrees. the compression is about 9.5:1. i am using a stock jdm p30 ecu. someone told me that it's probably the ecu and the timing advance is high? and it won't run right on the gas here? i have the knock sensor plugged up, but i haven't mounted it in the block yet. is that going to help out any? the purpose of that is to account for grades of gas right...should i have gotten a usdm p30? this was the ecu that was recommended but i didn't think it was that different and i got the jdm because it was actually 'cheaper?!' and smaller. i am in dire need of help...what should i do. i didn't have detonation problems at all before and i was boosting 10 psi with ls head/computer.

I had always had that thought in the back of my mind....about the grades of gas. Over here, it seems the Si and GS-R are tuned to use 91 octane or Premium. Over seas, isn't the highest grade gas like 100 or something? I had also seen on Apex-i's site, that the Power FC was finally 'fixed' for US grades of gas [Link here].

So yeah, the JDM ECU's might have increased timing.

Search the site for mor info, but in this short thread they are comparing PM6 (CRX Si) ignition and fuel maps to that of a PM7 (ZC).

sweet! i'll just run race gas all the time . so what the hell should i do? i'm getting fed up with this already...get the usdm p30?
