Default AEM EMS HELP. Idle Target?

My car was idling awesome, I had my idle target base set to to 1500 to 1000.

It was idling great at 1000 rpms, and then all of a sudden it started to idle at 2000 rpm's and stay there. First I thought it was a vacumm leak somewhere, but then I realized in my Parameters window that my idle target was 2000. I think that is the problem, but my Idle Target table is set so it idles at 1000? Am I missing something here? Also my idle position is like 80 percent. Any ideas?

I thought that the the idle parameters would say "Idle Target 1000"

Thanks guys!

same thing happened to me, but haven't taken a look at it yet. I also don't have a vacuum leak. I was told it could be the IAC too......Let me know if you figure it out.

Ive always had problem using the Idle target on my car....every other car it worked, my car no go. I actually just turned the IAC pw to off and tuned the idle from the idle timing/fuel trims. Works great and I get a nice steady 900 rpm idle without dickin with the idle targets. FWIW, I think I have a bad IAC and was too lazy to switch it out so I tuned around it.

AEM EMS is notorious for burning out iacv's. i went thru 3 of them in 6 months. youll know when u go to adjust your idle taget and it doesnt do anything, or if u unplug the iacv and it still idles the same.

i dunno whats up w/ur car, but i have tuned coutless hondas and never had a iacv fail

whats your idle rpm max fb set to? if the car is idling above that then the idle feedback wont turn on

I don't think it is the IAC. When I adjust the idle vs target table that does effect the idle.

What I don't understand is why it was idling at 2000 rpm's all of a sudden. Then I noticed this morning when I was connected to the EMS that in the parameters section it said Idle Target "2000" I would think it should say 1000 since that is the rpm I have my idle target set at in the idle target base table.

def. check the idle max rpm...if for some reason the idle goes over it for a second, the ems will no longer try to correct the idle.

if you have the wrong frequency selected then it will wear it out faster...

make sure you have the proper frequency for the iacv if you are blowing up iacv's

Would 488hz be the proper setting for a Honda IACV?

There is a check box option under advanced idle control called Idle Invert. Somehow it got unchecked. I am usually never under advanced idle control. I must have unchecked it. I have not had my mouse hooked up lately, and been using the mouse pad on the laptop which I hate. So it was probably jus a accident while I was road tuning.

The car runs great now other than this boost creep problem. If I can figure this out then I am golden.

yup. that'll definitely make your car idle funny. what's your idle at now? i got mine down to as low as 850rpm without stalling after giving a bit of gas. it's a work in progress though.

I have mine pretty steady with basically no fluctuation at 1000. I was thinkin of brinkin it down to 850-950, but I just don't see a real advantage other than a slightly quieter engine. It's sounds pretty good at 1000rpm with the 880cc.

Have you tried turning on your AC (assuming you still have it installed)?

v1.11 has a a/c delay feature that is really nice, set it to about 0.3 sec and the idle never falls when a/c is on.

also keep in mind that there is more load on the engine when ac is on, so you may have to add timing in the load row that the car idles in when a/c is on.

haha invert idle

Tip - save each revision of your map as a different file name so you can always revert back to a working map if something gets funky and you cant figure it out.

What do you do to compensate for the lack of AC delay in version 1.03? Version 1.11 wasn't happening on my box. Let's just say it didn't sound too good when the ignition was turned to the ON position.
