96 civic turbo ls-vtec build
On page 5-6 its now a fully build gsr and swaped (swaping) over to a 2000 si shell
Whats up guys i wanted to show you all what one of my good friends and I are building for me.. I have it also in the appearance build thread but i seem not to get any love there, and im bored so i thought i would share it with ever one here..
Here is my 96 civic i traded my hatch for after the hatch was involed in a garage fire..
Here are some pics of my old civic
And here are some after the fire
this is a crappy pic but the only one i have after, the whole front end got damage and some of the passanger side door. It did 2500$ of damage
And now here are some pics of the civic from the time i got it till now.. i got this car in jan '11 with a stock LS boosted with a ebay turbo kit
Here it is on the way home
when i bought it it had a turbo ebay kit and made 260hp at like 200tq, i hated the way it sat. so the 1st thing i did was buy coilovers and some suspension parts, roof rack and hood bra..
i end up going with:
blox full coilovers
blox lower lcas
benen lower tie bar
here are some pics after i put the suspension and winter wheels..
Next thing on the list (witch im in the middle of doing now) is the get a better turbo set up and try and get alittle more hp out of her. i end up going with.....
- b16 head ported and polished intake side, supertech valvetrain, GSR cams
- turbonetics t3/t04 .48ar w/ stage 3 wheel
- blox exhaust manifold
- turbo smart 38mm wastegate
- tial bov
- precision 1000cc inj
- act 4 puck clutch
- hasport motor mounts
- golden eagle ls-v conversion kit
- GSR shaved valve cover with a home made oil catch can set up
- aluminum radiator
- GSR ARP head studs
- walbro 255 fuel pump
- Gm 3 bar map
- blox intake mani
- 31x11x3 bar and plate intercooler
lol yes i know i took the pic in the house (everyone on facebook picks on me) but all the stuff was clean and new so it didnt bother me
now on with the build pics
out with the old
clutch in
tranny painted
plugs for the catch can and freeze plug in
tranny back in
sandwhich plate in
head, turbo and mani on
some wga fitment issues :s i dont know what im gonna do yet
3-18-11
adjusted the valves, got the vtec wired up, got the 3 bar map wired up. Tried to figure something out with the wastegate but no luck so im just gonna have to buy a newer style turbosmart wga cause there the only one that seems you can use without wacking up the head and wga with the blox exhaust mani..
that yellow had to go...
got the intake mani on..
come home and these were sitting at the door
3-19-11
I drove 4 hrs each way to pick up a wastegate so i can get this bad girl done, instead of waiting 3 or 4 days for shipping.
the only thing we did get done was the intercooler fitted
3-23-11
Well the wastegate still didnt fit. Took it to the machine shop to get the flange milled down alittle. I got it back today
the wastegate fits good now
just a fitmint text to make sure everything is gonna fit right..

what are your hp goals for this? reason i am asking is why you were running 1000cc injectors on it. just seemed a bit overkill

Is the LSVtec better and/or more reliable than a B20Vtec? I ask bcuz my car has a B20 and I still dunno what to do with it... I bought it with the engine, B20B4 w the B16 tranny.

Re: 96 civic turbo ls-vtec build
its really not overkill at all. with the 1000's ill be useing about 60-70% of them.. there are acouple cars around my area that are on stock ls and running 1000's. my reason is i plan on going bigger with the next year and no point of putting 550's or 750's in it then going back later and buying 1000's.. it can be tuned on 1000's if they know what there doing

So you had the older turbosmart wastegate and it didn't fit with the blox manifold? Cuz that's the exact setup I'm about to put on my build. Why didn't you do a 90 degree bend?

Re: 96 civic turbo ls-vtec build
ya i had the older ts wga, and it will not fit with the vtec head.. i didnt use a 90 bc i didnt want to.. i bought the new ts wga and it still didnt fit either with the b16 head. idk what head u are useing but the older style wga will not fit on the ls head either, its huge. Unless u use a 90 witch i wasnt going too

Re: 96 civic turbo ls-vtec build
b20's have weaker cylinder walls because its obviously a 2.0l. so people have problems with them cracking sleeves easier. you can do it, get a good tune. it all depends on the motor itself. hell i spun a rod in my b20 and it was my daily that i never beat on. it just decided to knock and then blow up.
