Icon2 Valve adjustment drag?

Hey all,

Doing a valve adjustment on my 93 Honda accord for the first time. Now, everything is pretty basic, except for what "slight drag" feel like? While I slide the feeler in and out, the angle of the feeler should be perpendicular to the valve head below and perpendicular to the rocker above it? Right? Cause I have noticed that the drag increases or decreases at different angles. If anyone could clarify this I would appreciate it.

I used to fuss about slight drag a lot. Recently I just started tightening it until I couldnt move the feeler gauge and then backing it out between 1/8 and 1/4 of a turn

The tolerance band is plenty wide enough to feel for the valves. If you have some drag or even if they are a little snug you are fine.

OP, are you using flat shims or the ones with a fold? ie:

Just go / no-go check it and it's more than good enough relative to the tolerance given by the mfr.

just get the next size up, it shouldn't fit. the next size down should go in with no drag.

I am using the feelers with the bend in them. I appreciate all the feedback from everyone. I am just gonna stick the feeler in there and tighten it down snug while its stuck in there and then back it off just a bit. Good idea

best way to do it is the go/no-go method. feeler that is within spec should fit, feeler that is 1 size larger than spec should not fit. this eliminates all guesswork and guarantees it is within spec.
