trying to idle e85 with 1680cc what a ......
Whats up u guys i got a b18b boosted. Basic simple set up. Stock cams, and stock tb.
I took it to get dyno tuned at a local shop and was told my injectors were no good and to big to idle. blah blah i aint going out with out a fight. When i got the car from them i must of stalled 10 times and was about to tow it home......
So am here now trying to tune my idle for the most part than send it to get dyno tuned.
First thing i noticed he never changed my injector offset, was still set on my old 550cc.
So i change the offsets and got the car idling now but it is running at 11afr at 950-1000rpm. I tryed changing the map in the idle area and once i do that it starts surging. This is were im stuck. Also it stalled on me driving around the block with ac on.
Any help would be great!
oh im using crome

1680cc injectors? Who makes them, as I have never heard of that size? A quality injector of that size range will idle E85 without much issue but CROME will present it's own set of issues. ID2000's will idle with E85... find a new shop.

They are bosch 250 150 839 injectors off a ford.
So should I try lowering the map area than play with the offsets?
here is the funny part car idles super smooth with virgin p75 ecu @ 16 afr, so I know it can be done...

those are standard old-school EV1 160's.
they are a little touchier at low pulse widths compared to a EV14 variant, but on E85 you shouldn't have any issues. If you reach a point where "one click richer" goes too rich but "one click leaner" goes too lean - lower your fuel pressure to gain resolution.

Ok spent another 3 hours playing with it.
I tried a lower offset same issue. Idles fine at 10-11 afr once I try leaning it out it surges than I messed with iacv which in return makes it worse or just dies.
I did try to lower fuel pressure but that just brought me down to 30 psi. Also tried to raise it, no help at the moment but will keep this in mind once I get closer.
I just can't seem to make it idle any higher than 11 afr. I'm using a inovate hand head reader. I know I'm rich because I got fuel under my muffler.
I have 3 bin files with all different values and they all idle the same 10-11 afr.
I'm going to try a new base map set offset ect. See what happens. Maybe the guy that tuned it changed a few stuff on me. Start fresh.

I'm willing to bet you have a different issue, most likely a vac leak. I'd recommend swapping with stock injectors, diagnose from there. If everything runs well, swap the injectors again.
Since those injectors are old as *****, I doubt you're getting even flow on them.
It would sincerely be in your best interest to get them cleaned and flow tested just for peace of mind and longevity.

Got a chance to play with it today. New p75 map did all the basic, injector increase, boost table, timing boost, boost richness, than increase whole map 45% for e85. Car idles 13/14 no idle issues now.
But drove to e85 station car drove perfect. Turned car off than would not start!!!!!!
Called buddy over, plugs dry, got spark got fuel pressure. When we went to check injecters pulse next than car started. Drove home turn car off, than no start. Pulled plug to check injector pulse car started lol wtf

come on guys, all of this stuff is in my manual.
with e85 you don't just cram 45% onto the fuel maps, you change the overall multiplier. your ecu doesn't even use the tables until a few seconds after it starts, it uses blind pulses. which is why you have separate values for them in the settings.
start over with a new map again, multiply your injector flow rate by 0.66 and use that number instead. that'll solve your cranking issue. if it's choppy on post-start, reduce that value by 10%.
most people think their post-start is lean because their wideband takes a second to heat up and shows the wrong value, but more often than not it's way too rich.

Sounds good I found ur manual I have to read over it once I find out why my injectors are not grounding!
I grounded one injector to shot fuel than car started. Time to check my grounds.

Yikes... man you REALLY should just take the car to someone that actually knows what they are doing. The injectors are grounded through the ECU. They are only fed positive power when key is forward. Ground only comes when ECU commands it to. Stop messing around before you fry your injector driver.
