Spark plug timming

Default Spark plug timming

I have some questions about timing on my car. First of all, stock engine, double headgasket, Y7 pistons 120psi compression, base timing are 16 on map and dizzy with some BKR6e spark plugs gapped at .030, 11psi of boost,

I know too much timing and the color change will be very close to the threaded body of the plug, too little and it'll be closer to the tip, but as you can see on my map, timing is conservative all around and still my plugs indicate advanced timing. No sign of detonation, no tiny black specks or shiny specks,

What i need to move to the timing indicator to the 90 bend?, less timing?. here i attach a couple of photos from old and new spark plugs and my timing map.

I hate to say it, but thats not a conservative tune. That's actually a pretty terrible ignition map. your increments as boost rises are all over the place. view the map in 3d graph and you'll see how choppy and inconsistent it is. You also want timing to drop at least 0.75 degrees per psi of boost. meaning the 11.2psi column should be at least 1.5 degrees lower than the 9.3psi column. and same for 9.3psi vs 7.5psi. You have several points that drop less than 0.25 degrees per psi. some columns are actually the same as adjacent columns too.

your plugs are also too hot. you need at least 7's, possibly 8's depending on climate. And drop the gap down to around 0.026" for standard copper tip v-power plugs. Or better yet, get irridiums and close the gap to around 0.030". Closing the gap on copper plugs too much creates a really awkward spark kernal due to the angle of the ground strap in relation to the electrode tip

I think 17.50 degrees final is conservative because low compresion 120psi in all 4 cilinders, and yes, map is a bit weird at low boost but engine only see low boost for around .5 secs, btw Im going to change to BKR7 and .025 to see what happens.

after seeing that picture, throw those spark plug wires in the trash and get Genuine NGK plug wires too.

Default Spark plug timming, use 3932x

Hi, I too like NTK Alumna, they do not make a "x" racing spark plug.

You case could use a Autolite Nascar 3932x Racing Plug.
This Ignitor was created for "cup cars" and professional motorsports.
I would fit Fire Core 250/50 plug wires and boots.

I manufacture a wire set used with my IGN-1A/IGN-1 coil for Honda engines.

That ignition map should be fine and that plug looks good. I'd put the Bkr7e plug in Gap .030. that's the coldest i'd put in though.
Honestly that plug show's a "conservative" ignition map. Pay no attention to the black on the Ground strap near the bottom(if you don't know what your looking at)

You can do a "Blue Line" plug tune. You need brand new plugs and you need to do it correctly though...!

That is exactly what i want to do, the blue line tune you mention. As you can see the spark plug looks fine because is a new one, and timing mark is at the ground strap indicating too much timing, but actually timing are a bit retarded all around. Im going to test some ZFR spark plugs, maybe works different than NKG.

ZFR and BKR are both NGK spark plugs lol. the difference is tip length, nothing else. ZFR has a slightly longer tip than BKR
