Ek civic with EG ECU
I have a question about using a chipped po6 or stick p28 ECU for a ek d16y7/y8 mini me...I check and searched everywhere on this site and there is really nothing about the subject.
I have a 97 civic lx (d16y7) with a y8 head.
For future boost and build can I use a chipped p06 so I can tune for future plans?
If so what should problems will I face by using the po6?

get a ecu thats compatible with hondata s300 and your set. I believe the p06 is but im not sure, I dont even know what ECU I have lol as I bought it with hondata s300 installed. IMO thats the way to go if you get a decent deal on it then just sell your old ECU

Re: Ek civic with EG ECU
Additional parts would have to be soldered into the P06 ECU for VTEC to work. If the ECU is chipped already, these components may have already been installed... you will have to open it up and look. A Google search will show you the parts.

Re: Ek civic with EG ECU
My p06 is already chipped...in the future I'll install the hondata or something for tuning.
I'm just wondering can I use it in my 97 y7/y8 mini me for now instead of buying a p2p for the vtec and knock sensor. Also for future use in tuning once the engine is built and ready for turbo?

p06 is for a 1.5 motor, so no you cant plug it in and expect it to run correctly. you could use it if it was chipped and tuned for your motor

Re: Ek civic with EG ECU
Possibly I was wrong or there could be multiple variations, but even at a D16a6 its a different motor which uses a few different sensors you can give it a try but its not meant for a D16y7 With Y8 head so its best to have it tuned
