access to sensor data

access to sensor data
What is the easiest/cheapest way I can access all my sensor data like I would on a OBDII car? I am a mechanic and I find it sooo much easier to diagnose car if I can hookup a scanner. I don't need to program my computer but if it only costs a little bit more I would be happy to pay for that.
I have 1993 eg hatch with 1995 GS-R engine using P72 computer. Can I just buy a OBDII computer and install it? Or would it be easier to chip my current computer so I can look at all the data.
Looking for price/time/PITA? If it is going to cost $1000+ I will pass.
thanks.

Re: access to sensor data
Thanks for the link on how to read codes.
Sorry if I was not clear. I want to be able to read what the sensors. RPM, IAT, MPH, ECT, O2, MAP, fuel trim, LOAD, etc.... It is normal practice for me to hook up a scanner and look at the live data.

A socketed OBD1 ECU with Neptune/Demon combo. you should be able to send your current ecu out for installation for around $500. I havent checked prices lately, so i could be off a little bit.
Also, you gain the ability to custom tune your engine to your liking.
