Default 5-speed ecu on an Automatic

Is it ok for me to use a 5-speed p75 on my auto dc the reason is, im doing a obd2a to obd1 conversion w/a jumper harness but wanted to know if it would work? Some people said yea and i actually tried a 5-speed civic ecu and it worked fine just redlined too early but, then some people said it wouldn't work that it will not shift gears? Any help or feedback is appreciated thanks!

I know that at least one OBD1 honda (not sure if all) uses a separate transmission control module. Therefore, the manual ecu would be fine as long as you also have an auto tranny tcm. All this is based on the assumption that all OBD1 hondas use the separate tcm.

Uhhhh... I'm "pretty" sure Honda integrated the tcm into the ecu when they went obd2. Apparently, Honda Motor Co. hates the idea of an obd2 automatic car being modified much :D The board meeting most likely went something like this..."Let's make the obd2 ecu's nearly impossible to crack, then when the tuners figure out to convert to obd1, the guys with automatic transmissions will STILL be scewed...MWAHAHAHAHAHA"

I'm actually having the same problem right now, and I think Xenocron might have a way to do the obd1 conversion on an auto trans. vehicle. I'm still waiting on a response from them (I think they might be on Christmas break at the moment), you might want to send them an e-mail to see what they have to say on the whole matter.

on a p28 u have to clip a resistor and sauter a wire in.or u get a code.so yes you can use the ecu but u have to modify it

this might be helpful, but it might be incomplete in terms of instructions.. and its only for USDM ecus.. http://mycomputerninja.com/~jon/www.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin/view/Library/OBD1CivicIntegraAutoManual.html

the links have more info, where they are present. I am sure xenocron could do the conversion, so he may be your best bet. Otherwise, most of the parts are available at a well endowed radioshack.
