Help identifying valve spring max lift/coil bind
I bought a head with an upgraded valve train. Is there a test to figure out what the max lift/coil bind and basically which springs I have? I have it narrowed down to two different springs:
Mystery spring 1: Max lift: 14mm
coil bind: 18.5mm
Mystery spring 2: max lift: 12.5mm
coil bind: 19.5mm
I want to get some all motor cams but I've read I need to match up the cam lobe lift with the springs max lift and I don't know what I have.
So will I have to take it to a machine shop to have the seat pressure measured and is there such a test that exist? My knowledge of machining is very limited.
Any help is appreciated.

im gonna say yes take it to machine shop that can accurately determine this..... or purchase new known springs that will work with the cam you choose

Thanks for the reply. I called a machine shop and they said I would need to know the spring height once the spring is installed. Then they could use that known height to give you the coil bind rate and max lift.
