D15 crank bearings
This is for a d15z1
*the cap goes on as if the bottom side is on a hinge, and the top folds down toward camera*

Are the cap bearings on correctly?
Also, do rod bearings go this way, or flip the top around?

Re: D15 crank bearings
The rod cap looks right . . . the tangs usually are on the same side. There should also be a mark to line up on the outside of the rod and the chamfer should match which is what it looks like in your picture.

The other part that the pictures will not show or tell is....
The bearings should sit just slightly higher than the housing half they are sitting in. You should just be able to catch the tip of the bearing with your nail on each side of the half.
This is the crush part of the bearings as that little excess of each half pushes against each other and crushes into the proper shape when you torque the caps down.
It's really hard to tell but the main bearings in the block look to be recessed on one side and if anything they should be just a touch higher than the bolt hole surface of the housing.

Re: D15 crank bearings
Thanks guys, I had a guy on facebook SWEARING that the rod caps went the other way but that's how they were when I took them off and I even took it to the extent to Google pictures of d15z1 rods and all the pics I find the notches are as pictured. Also when I ordered a rod it came like pictures. I posted this because I was having some problems with turning my rotating assembly after assembled and torqued. Ended up being a rod with uneven surfacing under the bearing. Replaced rod.. Assembly turns like butter this was my first car engine rebuild so have had some trial and error. But anyways. Thanks again guys
