Did you check to make sure your timing was on point? New spark plug seals on the valve cover?

What was your piston to wall clearance? What was your ring gaps set to?

Usually when I have a low compression problem, I do a cylinder leakage test to see WHERE the compression is lost.
If all 4 cylinders have only 65 psi, you may have a camshaft timing problem.

Check your valve adjustment most compression loss is from head

Put a little bit of oil on the pistons and see if it leaks down. If it holds, its alright, if not, then thats your issue, but probably, its in the valves. Turn the head upside down and pour some oil and se if the oil leaks down in. When you do that, do it to the head and pistons at the same time and check it in like 5 minutes. Free and effective way to do it.. thats what i did!

Cylinder leakage test aka cylinder leakdown test will tell you where the lost pressure is going and how much pressure your losing. You have to do it with the head on so its kinda too late now... TRy pouring liquid into the ports and see if the valves are leaking. I like windshield washer fluid concentrate instead of oil. Less mess and it smells good.

You did check your ring gaps, right? Any had the PTW clearance checked and set by a machine shop?
Valve lash set correctly?

Mark where the levels are and check back tomorrow If everything is good. Did you get a fresh hone? Cyl 2 looks a bit off to me... If thats all good, then you need to redo timing. You made sure everything was lined up? Cyl 1 on TDC? cams lined up with the top head?

Did you clock the rings the right way? If its new rings on a non honed block, you wont get a good seal. Are the pistons good? Why did you rebuild it? Was you burning oil prior to building the motor, or was it running just fine? What did you add? Tell the details!!!!

Bump so far taking out Pistons today and honing it and re going over everything new rings clocked th right way but I think you're right about it not sealing right without a fresh hone

Oil didn't leak at all still at same level on both the block and the head tdc was done with the head off lined it all up 100% put the head on and made sure tdc on head was perfect

So cyl 1 was at the very top of the stroke? And the little nick on the crank lines up with the mark on the oil pump housing? Im wondering if the head might have a crack in the spark plug holes. Only way oil can get in the spark plug holes if the spark plug gaskets are bad. Strange issue, you have man
