What do you guys do to get the rubber off the sides of your car?
Not sure if this is the right place, so Mods please move if it needs to be.
I've searched and searched and couldn't find a clean answer on how to remove the rubber on the side of your car so I was wondering what some of your guys techniques are in removing the rubber off the sides of your car after a track day? Is there anything you guys spray down the sides of the car before racing? I use this bug and tar remover stuff, but it doesn't really help much, it just smears the rubber across the sides and hardly gets it off so I'm stuck with chunks and bits and pieces of rubber down the side of my car.

Well, I use the bug and tar remover, but all it does is smear all the rubber around, doesn't really take it off. I tried WD-40 just a little bit ago and it does the same also.

googone works well. But i put a nice amount of petroleum jelly/hair grease on a rag and rub it all over the fender and portion of the doors behind the wheel.
after i race a slight wipe with a rag takes alll the rubber rite off.

blue tape the main area that gets covered in rubber? just rip the tape off after track day. voila.

rubbing alcohol does work good, but that also strips the wax off the car too, so if you do use this just put another layer of wax on to protect it.
it ALWAYS helps to keep a nice coat of wax on the car, keep the finish smooth and slippery.

Re: What do you guys do to get the rubber off the sides of your car?
I have seen and heard different things, but for me I have used wd-40, bug and tar, hand soap, etc. I think the best thing on my particular car was during my time at the track using some Meguiars Quick Detailer after a few passes and that cleans alot of it up. I have also used some diluted Purple Power, which is not recommended on paint, but I have never had a problem with it. It will strip the wax off the car and can leave some streaks in certain cases, but they can be handled. I have also used the same stuff to get bugs off the front of the car. Again, not something that I would recommend, but I do it and it works great. I just put a little soap and water on the particular area and then spray a little diluted Purple Power on the area to be washed. Wait a few, scrub the areas with my fingers to make sure whatever I want removed is going to come off and then scrub away with my wet rag, rinse off, repeat if necessary. I have gotten several compliments that I have a clean car, so maybe my trick works fine??
