I run a set of 5 lug spares as rears when I drag my DC2 daily as of late and it made a solid .2 improvement over running on all four 98 spec Type R wheels with 205/45/16 Bridgestone Potenza RE11s. I run them at ~60psi and run about 25-26psi up front and am able to pull 2.0x 60' and run 13.80s at 99-100 mph. Setup is:
1995 GSR- 98 Spec JDM Type R front clip, JDM B18C shortblock, stock port P72 head with DC2R cams/valvetrain, AEM cam gears at "0", Skunk2 V1 intake manifold, JDM DC2R throttle body, Comptech intake, RMF Header, 2.5" gutted cat, 2.5" exhaust to DC2R muffler, S80 HLSD tranny with 4.4 final, Comp stage 2 and DC2R OEM flywheel. Made 189/136 but made that HP at 7800 running out of fuel. Still on OE style 190lph Denso pump, OEM DC2 fuel Rail, regulator, 240 injectors. The car weighs a hair under 2500 with no driver and 4-5 gallons of fuel in the stock tank. Full interior, double din stereo with 4 speakers, gutted from rear seats back, all sound deadening removed, F7 billet LCA's, ASR rear subframe brace, Spherical end links, Mugen front/rear strut bars, Energy suspension bushings throughout, Ground Control coil overs/Koni yellows, F7 extended top hats, etc.
Could easily be a mid 13 sec and 200whp setup with more fuel, but it's my daily.
(and occasional time attack/road course toy.)
I have a 340whp built/K24 EM1 serving the current drag duties.

Anyone I'm drunk (go Murika!) so end rant here but yea I would expect at least a tenth or two reduction in ET going from street tires to skinnies and maybe a m

Skinnies are intended to be lighter and have less contact with the ground so there is less friction.

I'm also interested in skinnies but more in what size to get. So far i've seen the rule being to get them 2 sizes bigger than the front for example im running 15x8 up front so i would need 17x? and what back spacing?

.2 is pretty great for a simple rim and tire swap. I cant wait to swap to skinnies on mine. Im sure my 205/50/15 BFG rivals on 15x8 rims are holding me back a bit.
