School of Automotive Machinists in TX
Anyone ever been? I did a search and only found 1 topic back from 2003.
There are alot of schools across the US, and i don't mind relocating if i have to, anything for the right education and experience.
Ive taken Auto Tech 101 and suspension classes at the local Community College and am enrolled in the EFI ACP program(look out for the new tuner near you!!) and want to further my certifications/knowledge. I have read alot about UTI and Wyotech but am not to impressed with the reviews. Also there is a school in my are called The Fab School which looks really impressive and imformative.
Schools I have considered:
http://www.thefabschool.com - looks great
http://www.samracing.com - looks great
http://www.uti.com - bad reviews
http://www.wyotech.com - bad reviews
http://www.efi101.com - enrolled
Basically this is what I want to learn, welding steel/aluminum, tube chassis, high perf, engine building, custom fab, business management, and also CNC would be awsome! In the long run I want to own my own shop and do high performane custom work. I'm not to worried about the money, I know if I do something that I love then it will all work out.
Thanks for any input!

go to work for someone already in the business. you are more likely to learn a hell of alot more with hands on experiance, rather than "book smart" .......
i know people that are book smart, but havent a lick of common sense.

I am a very proud grad of SAM and David Localio is also.I think you will learn much faster going to the school then working for a shop that will most likely have you doing tear down for a long time first. Also most good pro shops only teach you to do one thing at a time so you dont learn to much too fast and leave them too soon.
