as far as i know they only certify cages that are suitable for 9.99 and faster or 135mph, you dont have the front addition to your cage so are you adding that or what? as long as your plates are 6x6 it looks like your alright other than what i said.

d bars are wrong per the new rules. Also those welds dont look tig'd. The bars should be like this.

I did see the thread with this cage install and people debating about that d-bar setup... when looking in the NHRA rule book for 07 and the revisions for 07 i have yet to see any writing about this change? just getting info

thats because its not in the rule book, but it is in a book or notes that the NHRA Tech Inspectors use when certifing a chassis.

I don't think that the side bars will pass either....
Unless you're a giant or something. They need to pass through your arm between your shoulder and your elbow. Basically you need to lower the bar.

What he said. The bars only have to be tig'd if it is chromoly.

email pat for more clarification if needed, when i was doing my d-bars, i was told i can either connect them to a lower cross bar that went from the rocker sill to rocker sill or from the main hoop to the main hoop

I looked at the chassis book that my NHRA tech had and it said that the d-bars(bars coming from the hoop to center of car)must connect to the frame. On unibody cars that do not have a frame, they must connect to a bar that runs from rocker panel to rocker panel. This bar must be connected to the rocker panel with six inch plates.(just like the ones in the pic above)
Here is what my cage looked like before he would certify it:
Here is what it looks like now and it is certified:

Did you guys even clean up the metal before welding? It looks like you welded on top of the paint too in some spots....

quick question....on the plates for the cross bar that the d bar mounts to...is that still a 6x6 plate thats folded over the door sill?
like on the cage that Tony1 did, are those still 6x6x plates on the rocker panel?

If you are talking about mine, the hoop was painted(except for the bottom where it is welded) before the final weld was done

like on the cage that Tony1 did, are those still 6x6x plates on the rocker panel?</TD></TR></TABLE> mine is a 6x6 plate that is folded. About 2" on the floor and 4" on the rocker. It overlaps the hoop plate a bit. That was approved during the certification btw.
