i mounted the battery like you pictured above on a customer's car, only on the passenger side(it was a B-series engine,so the passenger side worked better).no problems, and i wouldn't worry too much about it affecting weight distribution.

Is it legal in NHRA to place the battery in the fender well without a kill switch? can you place a dry cell Motorcycle behind the dash and pass tech?

thanks

As far as i know the rules now state you only need a kill switch if it's in the driver's compartment.

anytime the battery is moved from stock location you need a cut off switch... even sealed dry cell batterys need a box i learned that last season...

even if it is moved to the fenderwell? that doesnt make sence. i can understand if your moving it to the drivers compartment by why does it need a cutoff if your only going to the fenderwell?

The rule book contradicts itself it seems. In general regulations it says you need a cut off switch if the batter is relocated anywhere. Under the class regulations (for SFWD for example) it says if the battery is relocated to the trunk you need one.

"MASTER CUTOFF:
Mandatory on any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker, or 135 mph or faster, or on any vehicle where the battery has been relocated to the trunk of vehicle. See General Regulations 8:4"

"8:4 MASTER CUTOFF
Mandatory when battery is relocated or on any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker. An electrical power cutoff switch (one only) must be installed on the rearmost part of each vehicle and be easily accessible from outside the car body. The cutoff switch must..."

I do. Not a CRX but an 88 hatchback. It's an Nrg-cell battery, not a stock sized battery. Made a bracket for it and placed it in front of the transmission.
