Whoa... I remember when I moved from LA to Eugene, OR in '93. There was no import scene up there. Sport Compact Car was still a lowrider mag. I went up to Woodburn a few times and busted some 13.2's in my Eclipse. Nothing but American cars up there. Now they're hosting import events! Times have changed...

Yeah, the import scene has definately grown here in the northwest. I remember back in the day as a kid looking in the windows of Ground Zero Motorsports and drooling at the chrome exhaust and red H emblems. Now they got a 11.6 second all motor race car and some very nice street cars most in the high 12's.

most of the NA cars made more noise than anything. most NA cars were runnin 13s that were runnin open header. pretty decent runs but too ****** loud. im glad my car was there runnin a best of 12.6?? @ 107.??. ran a nice lookin pearl 99-00 hatch turboed and wasted him. he ran like a 13.4?? but sweet 110mph trap. lots of good cars, and there were a few POSs that shouldnt even have been on the track.

Kenny Tran ran 8.9@172MPH, that should be a mid 8 second run if he gets all the power to the ground

172 is off the hook. Kenny's alliance with Bob Norwood is already paying off. What a combo

We were planning on competing in the All Motor class, but couldn't get the car together in time to haul it all the way down to Woodburn--then we took the rest of the weekend off.

Anyone know of any battle of the imports type events at Pacific Raceways or anything farther north?

I was there and ran in the 13.99 and quicker bracket. I ran a personal best of 12.80 @ 105mph. I also made it all the way to the finals where I lost to that rotary powered dragster by a few hundreths.

I was the dark blue '92 civic hatch all motor.

All my runs where on slicks but with full exhaust with cat., full interior and all my bumpers.

john

yeah i was there on sat morning and at pir on friday night. it was a lot of fun, the turn out of spectators was really poor. i dont think that they will come back for a very long time. i would like to give a big compliment to the ground zero team, thier cars are definitely the dominating force in oregon.

derek

hey john, saw you at woodburn nice driving! give you tons of props on your car. its the perfect sleeper. is that just a stock R motor? or do you have internals? well anyways john i hope to be running with you next time my white crx ran 13.52 full exhaust with a stock b16. i blew out my thrust washer on my crank so im thinking about throwing in a stock ls block so i can finally hit 12's like you. well hope to see you soon!

also to the rest of you groundzero will only get stronger. im not talking **** but i know all the guys there and know most of their secrets. im just saying its good to see people around here getting the times other people dream about. hopefully GZ will hit 10's NA with their new motor and a tuned chassis.

Gmedallion - i wouldnt really expect kenny tran to run any faster that was his all time best. any of those pro cars out there would be running faster if they got traction. most of them dont get traction until end of 3rd or 4th gear anyways. just to let you know. mad props to kenny tho i was at the end of the track when he ran that run and it was the ****. the ecko car even ran a 9.05 or something in the right lane. that was one of the highlights on sat for me. that was like the personal best for both cars!

LOts of records were broken at woodburn!! gotta love it!!
