use the metal screened filters, we are using aeromotive filters, just one before the pump, 40 micron.
the cellulose paper filters WILL clog with e85

you are supposed to run 100 micron before the pump, you run the risk of cavitation if you do not. I run the SS 100m before and the SS 40m after the pump, all aeromotive with e85.
well i guess i was thinking about something else. I guess Bosch's can take a finer filter before the pump.

Whatever you do decide to use make sure its a stainless element, IDK what to use as a pre-filter but I ran a 40 micron Summitt filter as a post filter and it worked just fine and it was cheap. Make sure you check the screens a lot at first, I have noticed Ethanol will strip the gunk in your system and clog up the screens..... It seems to gradually go away with time.

Re: Fuel filters and E85 Dual 044 setup
i used a paper filter with E85 for a while, but i did notice a brownish substance on the injector. So i switched to the 40micron stainless.

Re: Fuel filters and E85 Dual 044 setup
I talked to a rep at Kinsler and they said, some do not have problems and some do. When i ran mine with mysetup i didnt really have any problems but im not sure where the brown substance came from it was gummy. My guess was the glue holding the element together

So is this what most ppl are running:
Surge tank > ----- 100 micron >---- 044 > ----\ ____ Y Piece > ---- 40 micron filter --------------> Fuel rail
.................. >------ 100 micron>---- 044 >-----/
Are the pre pump filters necessary? You could have 1 filter at the surge tank fill line? Could check valves be used to keep steady pressure to rail?
These seem to be fairly cheap and compact http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-650133/ .

Re: Fuel filters and E85 Dual 044 setup
on all our fuel injected race cars, we just run a filter before the pump. on our carb cars, we usually stick a second filter near the carb as well as before the pump.
those small filters are what we use right before the carb, but i would stay away from them on a fuel injected car.

Re: Fuel filters and E85 Dual 044 setup
Has anyone ran a check valve for the Bosch pumps?
Like this one: http://www.jayracing.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=226
The reason I'm asking, is I'm wanting to run Dual Bosch's in Parrallel coming from a -10 sump. I once ran just 1 bosch from the sump and I remember the pump being pretty loud. The next setup I ran was a Walboro 255 feeding a Bosch pump, and the bosch pump was a lot quieter because of the feed from the walboro.
I'm just seeing if anyone ran this high flow check valve and if they like it.

Re: Fuel filters and E85 Dual 044 setup
No matter what filter i've used, i have gotten brownish black residue on the inlet of the injectors and intake tract. When i first started running E85 i used to clean the filter every oil change and it got better over time. This was with aeroquip hose, a walbro 255 intank and this 10 micron filter in a 20 year old 250k+ mile car.
