Default Options for Former Smoker's Car

Hi all - I just returned to the USA and purchased a certified used Honda Fit that had one lease before me and runs just fine. When I tested it, I noticed a strong odor of air fresheners, but now that I have had it a week, I realize that was covering up smoke odor. My question to the community - are there cleaning techniques that can get this odor out; anything I should request specifically at the Honda dealership? If not, any thoughts on any kind of recourse I might have with the dealership? My wife has severe allergies so living with the smoke is not an option. Thanks for any advice. I am in NJ.

New cabin filter and shampoo all cloth (carpet and seats). Air it out. For a while, I'd run fans so air is coming from cowl and isn't circulating. A neutralizing air fresher might help if you periodically spray it.
