Testing waters. SRP 8.5:1 D16A6 pistons.
*edit* These pistons are standard bore *edit*
Well, unfortunately I didn't check the piston to wall clearance before I pinned my block. The shortblock was purchased from the junkyard so it must have had a lot of miles on it. Now I'm going to need .010 over pistons.
Anyway, I bought these pistons here on h-t. They are used. Person I bought them from said they had 2500 miles on them. I never used them.. I bought new rings and locks from je which will go with the pistons as well.
They were going to go in my z6 which would yield ~9.3:1 compression in the z6 which is nice They are at the machine shop now so I wont be able to post pics until Monday. $200 +shipping. The rings and locks alone were $111+shipping from JE. I have the invoice as well. Thanks.
Here are the pics... The spots are just carbon spots. I didn't get them spick and span.

post some pics when u get them. also which headgasket were u going to use to yeild the 9:3:1 thats perfect for my setup. let me know when u get some pics. also will these pistons handle 12-18psi daily? or should i buy new ones to run those numbers.

nate . . . let me know some info on the pistons:
tyson@genxperformance.net
what kinda boost can they handle, and what do I need to check to make sure they will fit my z6 motor?

Pics should be up tomorrow. stock gasket would yield ~9.3:1 That's according to an online compression calcuator, but it should be pretty accurate. I was going to run 15psi daily on them. They will melt easier under detonation than some other pistons because of the higher silicon content. However, they would easily handle 300+ whp tuned I would think.

I dont mean to hack your thread....But those pistons are damaged and i dont think you could reuse them.
Notice the marks on the top of the piston? And close to the side? An easy way to scare the piston walls.

Re: Re: (liam821)
The machine shop never said they would be a problem... But if they are damaged I got ripped. The upper portions all had carbon buildup on them..
Just to clear things up earl said- As far as marks on the top, as long as there were not any sharp edges, they would be fine. They just fill up with carbon and smooth out anyway. The sides of those particular pistons look a little tired
There are no parts that protrude out from the piston. I'm open to offers as well. Thanks.
