I removed the engine/gearbox and diff/chaindrives from the frame and stripped the rest of the suspension. Now ready to clean the frame and eventually get it power coated.

My S600 has Twin Chains in each rear axle housing.
My Coupe was built in late 1965. The parts manual shows only a single chain axle housing. I need to replace the small spocket and the chain tensioner in both housings. I don't know the correct part numbers for the twin chain version. 43221-504-000,-010,-030 are the small sprocket part numbers for the single chain version. 40510-504-000,-010,-030 are various Right Hand single chain tensioners. 40530 are the Left Hand etc.

My question is: Does anyone know about the twin chain version? The Part Numbers? A possible source of relacement parts? Does anyone else need to replace these parts and would be interested, If I get some made?
I was looking at modifing the tensioner so that just the roller could be
replaced if it had to be made.

The twin large sprocket has an interesting dowel system, that lets the 2 sprockets which are out of phase move a little in relation to each other so that the chains don't fight.

I got the chassis back from the grit blasters today and it is beautiful!
It is finished in a black etch to protect it before painting or powdercoating. Total cost A$190 great value.
Should I paint or powder coat?

Did you media blast or soda blast? Looks amazing. I would go with powdercoating. It will keep the shine and is a alot more durable than paint.

Deffinatly powdercoat, it will last alot longer. The only problem with it is youll end up having to retap every bolt and hole as the powder coat is thick enough it will stop you from threading bolts.

The next picture shows a chain tensioner with the riveted end of the roller shaft ground off ready for the shaft to be punched out. In the foreground is a very worn roller, 2 spacers, the roller bearing center and a shaft. In the top left is an upper guide roller that suits the dual chain drive. I intend to make a new roller and are looking for some advice.
I have not seen a new tensioner roller, so I don't know what outside diameter or profile it should be? Is the profile the same as the upper guide roller? What roller material has been successful for you?

The following pictures are of the rear axle supporters. Both mine have cracked nylon bushes. I am seeking advice about a possible fix and also dust seals and oil seals for them.

Just got the aluminum rear axle parts back from the glass bead blaster. Just $A70 this time, again good value! Pictures show just one of the axle drive casings and the banjo diff housing.

For the seals measure them up and post up maybe someone can find something for you. The oil control sleeve. You could get made out of Uhmw Plastic get someone to machine it.

by the way powder coating is the way to go with anything that can be powder coated. I used to be a sandblaster and paint just doesn't hold up. oh yeah great that you painted the frame but your gonna have to sand blast it again if you powder coat it.

I remember seeing several of those little sporty Hondas, that service men had bought, tooling around Okinawa in 66 or 67, when I was on R&R from Vietnam. I thought they were really cool and tried to find out how to get one home to Ca. Really wish I had one. I didn't know they were rare though. So now I am 63 and am a "Wahoo" with a B-16 in an old Mini Cooper, and starting another one with a Hayabusa."Wahooooooooo"

I have reassembled the rear axle swing arms onto the banjo diff housing and then mounted it back on the chassis to check its fit up. These are all the original bits just cleaned up for now. The banjo housing would just roll over in the supporters with the differential removed so I have a temporary bracket holding it vertical. I wanted to feel if there was any sideways knock in the swing arms. Feels OK. Bit cleaner now, see before pic.
