Default WTF. Wire Melted! Cought fire.

Ok so here is what happened.

I'm driving along. sitting in traffic.

And out of no where, I smelt something burning, and then pulled forward and saw smoke!!!!

I was like, WTF!!! omg. so I turned off my cd player. and un hooked the amp.

I dont have a headunit, so I had my portable cd player hooked up to the rca cables for the amp. And was listening to music that way. amp and 2 12" subs.

Well... I got home after finally buying a headunit from a friend, went to wire everything and I was wondering wire the power wire had no power.

And then went to the battery and found this.

What would have coaused this just today if for 7 weeks I had no headunit.

The car was in the body/paint shop for 6 weeks.

Thanks, Jose.

Battery-Fuse-Headunit

But the headunit was never plugged up. I got it back from the shop, and it didnt work. SO I replaced the fuse, and the head unit still didnt turn on. So I thre the headunit away. ( it need to be anyway )

Bought me this one, and found this.

Edit: also, is there anywhere I can get power from in the cabin for the headunit?
rather than having another wire run thru the engine bay.

perhaps you should get someone who is better at wiring to look at your car and check for missing or burnt fuses..

I have wired all my stereos in my cars. And have never had a problem.

Including my engine swap.

Perhaps.

I'm going to take tomm when I get off school, Pull the seats, carpet, panels, and just get to work. check everything go over everything re-wire the car stereo, speaker wire etc...

I swapped everything out, the dash included. I might have forgotten something.

You can also get constant power and Acc. from your ignition harness or from the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side if you don't want to get it from the battery.
