Default solder gun buying help needed

I plan on doing a lot of wiring soon. Between redoing the ground in my car to weeding out wires that I don't need I am going to be doing a lot of soldering. I would like to purchase one of those butane solder guns, can be with or without flame. I would like to spend about $75. any help would be apprceiated and any experience you could share with these type of soldering tools. thanks

If you want the very best go on ebay and purchase a metcal soldering iron. You can find them used between $100-300. The only down side is tips are rather expensive, if you take care of them they last a long time. Metcals heat up virtually instantly so there is no wait time. They also make sure you are not over heating what you are soldering.

Metcal's too top of the line, like if he were making a long-term investment soldering every day...for electric, id go Weller, but I don't know about butane.

Stay away from butane [ can be expensive] if you dont need to solder away from a ac plug .
Get a Weller 200/260 watt gun, about $50 can. will do all your soldering needs for you car, a little tricky on real fine [small] work but will work on wire and term.up to 4ga.
hope this helps 94

Soldering is always best, but to get 500watt gun just to do a few term. isn't worth it, and it will be no good for smaller work.

I use one of those gas bottles [propane I think] its about $25 or $30 for the kit . 94
