2004 RSX (non bose) Stock to Kenwood Wiring Question
Hey guys,
I got my car kit, harness and stereo ready to install. I found the steps for removing the stock stereo here: http://www.team-integra.net/sections...?ArticleID=974
and it looks like I do not need the special tools to get it out so I will try that. However once I get the old one out and new one in its place I see that there are more wires on the stock end than my aftermarket end.
Kenwood has:
Speaker wires of course
Power Control / Motor Antenna Control (I believe not used)
Mute control (I believe not used)
Ignition Wire (Red)
Battery Wire (Yellow)
Ground Wire (Black)
Stock Has:
Speaker wires of course
ACC (Main Stereo supply - Yel/Red)
Security Input (Red/Wht)
Lights-On Signal (Red/Blk)
Constant Power (Wht/Red)
Dash Lights Brightness controller (RED)
Ground (Black)
So my problem is... I have way more wires on the stock side and so unsure which connect to the ignition and battery on the kenwood.
I am assuming (please correct me if I am wrong):
Security Input, Lights-On and Dash Lights Brightness just get capped off and not used.
So which wires from the stock end connect to the kenwood for: Ignition and Battery?
Thanks guys!

didn't you say you got an aftermaket harness that plugs in?? all you have to do it match the colors on the kenwood harness and the aftermarket harness and plug it all together. ignore everything else.

Thanks Cobb2819, I am great at over thinking problems! All of them match up except for one I am unsure about.
Do I need the power antenna wire? The kenwood harness has it taped down as if its not needed, however the harness for my acura has the Blue wire to match to it.
It is labeled ANT. CONT on the kenwood side, Power Antenna on the stock side.

Okay I have the wires all matched up and on the aftermarket harness and I am left with one wire hanging... Orange: illumination / dash light - it has no connection to match to the kenwood harness.
Is this okay?

Well, this kinda sucks... as per this picture:
http://www.team-integra.net/images/B...bly_remove.jpg
I have no idea how to get those snaps to free themselves, and the post mentions no tools just says "push" and "pull". What am I supposed to do here? I dont want to butcher up my dash stabbing it with a screwdriver!

did you take the screws out from the bottom that hold the radio in?? if so you really just have to make a wish and pull. the clips are oddly strong.

killer, installed and rocking out!
Thanks cobb, you were a great help. Keep doing what you do!
also: I couldn't seem to get the two bolts back in so I left them out for now, is that okay? I ran out of daylight so if its important (I am assuming for stablity when hitting bumps) I will just put them in tomorrow.

Re: 2004 RSX (non bose) Stock to Kenwood Wiring Question
the bolts you removed are just a security feature. a lot of times you will have to force the brackets back into place because the radio cage forces them apart. it makes it harder to steal because there is more than just the clips holding it in place, but then again could lead to a lot more damage, so it's kinda your call.
